Was this done in spite of any physical sciences, or with respect to the physical sciences?

OH! it must be so, because the bible says so!!
the laws of physics must budge if they don't agree with my precious book....
unless the water was laced with lots of protiens, he wasn't walking on it.

Wrong question. First we have to decide whether it was done at all. And that's a question of whether you believe the Bible.
This is just going to be another "why believe the Bible?" thread. *yawn*
EVEN IF this somehow happened, we'd have no way of knowing whether Jesus was harnessing some completely natural phenomena we don't know about, or if it really was in defiance to natural laws.
So this question is completely pointless.

After saying this, you say the question is 'completely pointless'?
This isn't a valid scientific question?
If they actually thought something of this caliber was done by either 'harnessing some completely natural phenomena', or actually thought something was done by 'defiance to natural laws', I'm sure science would be all over it like a clip on a clipboard.
But I have a feeling science thinks it's a myth --- and teaches as such.

You need to get this "science thinks it's a myth" thing out of your head. It's completely false. If anyone teaches that it's a myth, it's historians and world religions teachers. Science does not touch claims like this. You are wrong.
Now, that out of the way, we've studied the physics of walking on water; Hespera posted a picture of a lizard that does just that. With our current understanding, it's impossible to saunter into an average body of water and be walking on the surface. However, since we do not know everything, we cannot rule out the possibility that it can be done naturally. Criss Angel has done it several times without the use of any supernatural powers.
And this point is still moot because there's no reason to believe this ever happened in the first place.

H sez.. your "feelings" have no standing in this matter.
Xtian fundamentalist cult ideas are of no interest and have no standing either, not in a physcis classs, a calculus class, or anywheere else except some sort of metaphysics setting.
Why would they bother "teaching" that jesus' water walking was a myth? its not a topic at all.
About your feelings again. you have all these strange negative fantasies about what goes on at a university. i guess its to late for you to find out how wrong you are.
Including that "science thinks its a myth" People think, science doesnt. But from a scientific piut of biew, or just common sense it cant be anything but a myth.
Science does not try to deal with the non existent. its just a story; there is nothing there. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | | | |
