Reps: 17,512,569,333,743 (power: 0) | | That new pseudo-vegemite? Contrary to those lame advertisements on televisions the verdict on the new 'nameless' Vegemite is not unanimous.
Is this new dumbed down Vegemite the result of selling the brand to an American company?
My wife thinks it's wussy Vegemite to sell to the Yanks because they can't handle the real deal. Too delicate I suppose.
Have you tasted it? |

Kraft have tried mixing Vegemite and cheese before. They have had Kraft cheese slices with Vegemite and Kraft cheese sticks with Vegemite. Both had an unfortunate unappetising look and soon vanished.
What is wrong with spreading Vegemite on your toast then adding a slice of cheese. Why does Kraft think they need to eliminate a step by adding cream cheese to Vegemite. I think they have got it wrong.
I wonder how many people who usually store their open jar of Vegemite in the cupboard do the same with the new Vegemite not realising it needs to be stored in the refrigerator.

and the thing about vegemite and cheese is the contrast. this thing is a tamer middle ground between cheese spread and vegemite. they should advertise it as "half the flavour of vegemite with half the flavour of cheese spread!"
that said it isn't bad per se, it's just not as advertised
as for vegemite being too strong for non-australians... i am pretty sure that both marmite and cenovis are "stronger" than vegemite.
i wonder if they wanted to call it cheeseymite but feared upsetting the bakers delight crowd, so instead ostensibly decided to let "the people" name it knowing the result of any such endeavour would inevitably be "cheeseymite", thinking that they could then say "oh well you know we didn't really name it it's sort of a generic public domainy kind of thing you know you see you can't -own- cheeseymite as a word"
and since when were "yanks" "wussy" or requiring of "wussy" versions of yeast extracts?

| | | Speaking of Marmite, didn't think to bring it up but Marmite has a new ad in NZ ... really stupid if you ask me. I think the message is 'Make the girl a piece of toast with marmite on it and she will do what ever you want' ... boring What the ad is a girls sitting there on the couch and saying random stuff. The guy watches her and then gets off the couch to make her a piece of marmite toast. She eats it and switches the TV on to watch a rugby game ... what do you think the message is???

I thought it was vegemite with butter in it.
I thought of trying it but decided against it.
I like the real vegemite. But now that I know it's got cheese in it, wonder if ds would like it (I'm always looking for things he can have on his lunches since peanut butter is banned at his school)
