Why do so many "Word Churchs" not allow the moving of the Spirit?
Why have many "Word Churches" become "Word only" churches? IOW's they do not allow the Holy Spirit to have His way. The scripture plainly warns us against this.
Things I have noticed in many larger "Word Churches":
1. Principle oriented preaching with no inspiration (no spontaneous utterance). Their message stays within the confines of their PowerPoint slides.
2. Principles are taught that are intended to one day benefit our life when acted upon, instead of allowing and welcoming the demonstrations of the Spirit and expecting miracles before the service is dismissed.
3. No longer allowing the Baptisms of the Holy Spirit to be a part of the service, but something we do in prayer rooms after the service is over.
4. Holy Ghost drunkeness, dancing, running, laughing, etc... in the spirit is not accepted.
5. Many Word of Faith churches have not gone with the move of the Spirit. We have substituted the genuine moving of the Spirit for dynamic Praise & Worship, high quality video announcements & high energy excitement. While these are good and we should strive for excellence in our ministries, they are not intended to be substitutes, but helps to create an atmosphere conducive for the moving of the Spirit.
I know that there are many Word of Faith churches who are moving with the Spirit. I am WOF and wouldnt change it for anything, but as Kenneth E. Hagin said, "There is a move of the Spirit that will be lost to this generation unless it is taught".

I do not believe this is limited to Word Faith Churches.
I have attended other Pentecostal Churches, and have observed that unless one is a member, and been in the assembly for considerable time, it does not matter if a person operates in the gifts, ie healing via the Holy Spirit, assemblies will not permit them to operate.
At a recent revival in an AG Church, I noticed the traveling evangelist make a comment when he was first operating in the gifts, the church would not let him operate, he has the gifts of healing etc., he stated he had to start out operating in the gifts, outside of the Church.
For the most part I have found this true.

I share the same opinion that the church teaches principles and stops there. I have been puzzled why the church would not proceed with guiding/urging the members to practice it. I came to this conclusion that the church is negligent of the word and prayer.
we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word (Acts 6:6)
We just don't read the Bible. Go to a Sunday Bible study class. See how many come after reading the Bible. Most of the classes have a study guide. We know which passages we will cover next week. But most come without reading the passages, not even once.
Please note that they have to get up early to attend the Bible class. If they don't read the Bible, what about the rest?
If I don't read the Bible, I don't know what to pray for. As Bible reading drops, prayer drops. I slide into darkness.
If one brings up the truth, my darkness gets revealed. I quickly make him a holier-than-thou. And I have many friends, both in the leadership and the lay members.
As Brother G. said, this is across the church of the Lord in my town.
I sincerely hope I am wrong. I ask you to tell me that I am wrong. I would rather become a fool here before all of you than praying in grief.
I think word churches start with a more balanced view of the move of God, they try to prevent so called moves of the spirit which are really just done in the flesh and end up throwing the baby out with the bath water and reject real moves of the spirit in the process...
may it never be true of us that we should quench the move of the Spirit of God...

I believe that is true Elimelech. I also believe that many Word churches have become more concerned about church growth numerically than church growth spiritually. Rather than consulting the Holy Ghost, we bring in "growth specialists" to tell us what to do and not to do to get people to come to our church- if you were to do everything they say you would have a thirty minute service, offering canisters at the entrances and the several different congregations would view their pastors message via satellite as a "satellite church" with no personal contact and no intention of ever sending a pastor to that area to eventually take over. And all for the purpose of building an empire rather than for the building up of the Kingdom. This is a great grievance to the Spirit of God. Who are we to consult the wisdom of men and resist the power of God? May God break our hearts with what breaks His and turn our purposes toward His purposes...I have certainly not attained myself, but I am hungry for a move of God that will put all of our excellence in the shadow of His Excellence. Help us Lord and send your fire, burn the chaff in us. Change us.

In the final move of Jesus' Holy Spirit NO ONE will be able to hinder his work. Pastors or teachers that try to quench the work of the Holy Spirit do will have an early rapture and be replaced.
By the way I am NOT JOKING, pastors will conform to Jesus' will, or they will be removed by the Holy Spirit as he sees fit.
