What Divine Liturgy did they celebrate? Was it the Liturgy of St. John?

Well, to be honest, I'm not exactly sure. I was usually in the kids classes, and I only sat in on the main service a handful of times.
However, I'm a little confused by 'Divine Liturgy' anyways. I just did a little research to try and clarify, and it just confused me further. The way I understand it is it's either referring to the communion service, or the entire church service. Could you possibly help me clarify this so that I might be able to answer your question? |

The dress code was very strict: No sleeves above your elbows, high necks, nylons and high heels, no cutting of women's hair, etc.; Suits for men. Certainly NO pants on women, no jeans on men, etc. Although they have relaxed a bit now (we haven't gone there for over 30 years), there is still a high expectation for modesty, cleanliness, and "appropriateness". The premise was basically, that when you are going to church, you are going to God's house and we would always want to dress the best possible to show reverence and respect.
For example, if we were going to have a personal visit with the Queen of England, we would probably wear something other than jeans and t-shirts. |

Probably trhe best thing that ever happened to you, now you can become a Christian and have a real relationship with the father via Christ.
I am a member, not a moderator. Given that, I must say that the above response is simply inappropriate. The OP described an unfortunate event from her childhood, and asked if it was typical of "Apostolic Churches." We have since been through the difference between the pentecostal churches with the word "Apostolic" in their names; and the Orthodox, Roman Catholic, Old Catholic, Anglican, etc. churches that are a part of this forum.
Any attempt to judge the OP's heart; and her present relationship with God, is out of bounds, and I will report it as such.

Like I told someone else in this thread, I have always believed that an individual should dress THEIR personal best for God, but one person's best might be Gucci, and another's best is from the Salvation Army. It shouldn't make a difference. I am there to fellowship, praise the Lord, learn about my God, and just develop my relationship with him, not to put on a fashion show. |

I have had a relationship with the Father through Jesus Christ since I was about 5. I was simply asking about the church, as I obviously didn't fit in with them. |

Peace be with you.

This sounds like the Apostolic church I grew up in. Women were required to wear modest skirts, wear their hair up, and wear a head covering at all times.

We understand...but it still has nothing to do with this forum. So if anyone wants to press the point further, could you please take it to the Charismatic forum or some other one better suited to the discussion? |

Excuse me...I was just responding to the first post. I'm not dissing, or discussing.
