Matthew Chapter 7 7 "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened." |

Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Coptic [Oriental Orthodox], Anglican, Old Catholic [& Utrech]
...these are the Churches who trace back ordiinations to the Apostles.

I then had to ask them why the men could wear pants, because men wore robes back in the bible day, and why do they watch tv, use computers, drive cars...seems a little hypocritical and frankly unchristian to kick a kid out of church for such a little crime when not a single member of that church TRULY lives up to the "biblical lifestyle as closely as possible".
In defense of this group of Christians the practice is based on an OT law forbidding people to dress as a member of the opposite sex. This it seems obvious was meant as a way of accentuating gender identity, which is likely mean to enforce gender roles. Or at least that is the way that group is likely to see it (I personally agree with them in that regard). Traditionally in our culture men have worn pants and women skirts, and women started wearing pants specifically for the purpose of tearing down those gender distinctions and gender roles. Therefore they have mandated that such things in their congregations. They are not saying (or at least a member who understood their theology is not saying) that women in the bible wore long skirts and men pants. They are saying that it is a biblical teaching that men and women are different and have different roles in society and the family and that they ought to dress differently to accentuate this fact. |

It sounds like this poor woman .... 'Whip me if you dare' says Lubna Hussein, Sudan's defiant trouser woman - Telegraph She left less than an hour later under arrest as a "trouser girl" - humiliated in front of hundreds of people, then beaten around the head in a police van before being hauled before a court to face a likely sentence of 40 lashes for the "sin" of not wearing traditional Islamic (Christian?) dress.
Red is mine ....

Troparion - Tone 4
Commanders of the heavenly hosts, we who are unworthy beseech you, by your prayers encompass us beneath the wings of your immaterial glory, and faithfully preserve us who fall down and cry to you: “Deliver us from all harm, for you are the commanders of the powers on high!”
Holy Archangel Michael, pray to God for me. "Why do you increase your bonds? Take hold of your life before your light grows dark and you seek help and do not find it. This life has been given to you for repentance; do not waste it in vain pursuits."~St. Isaac the Syrian To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. No, they were definitely Trinitarian. I wouldn't have been there for 3 years if they weren't.
But a thought comes to mind, they obviously weren't too concerned with children following these rules of theirs, but why weren't they teaching the children why they follow this path. I mean, most of the kid's parents were members so they already followed the "fashion rules", but for those of us that came from a different kind of church, they should have at least had a lession on it occasionally. |

iN THE ot - THEY ALL WORE ROBES.
Rats - caps lock - sorry.
Anyway - the distinction is only now when men wear pants and women wear skirts...
IF we all followed the same code of dress - all would be wearing robes, including men. Not pants.
Just thinking out loud.

I had the same thought, even back when I was 12 and all this was going on. |

Reps: 13,766,835,192,769,264 (power: 13,766,835,192,774) | | | I grew up in apostolic pentecostal church , was one of the bus rout kids and when I started getting close to Jesus I recieved the Holy Ghost and was baptised, wanted to sing in the choir, I had to follow this long list of rules, I was in JR High and didnt understand them.
I did'nt like the fact that many girls would go to hell for wearing bluejeans , so I stopped going and went to church somewherelse.
But then my cousin dared me to go with her in blue jeans just for a joke and I really wanted her to go to church , so I did the dare just to get her to go to church , was kinda funny,
So then recently Iv been going in blue jeans and not caring so much because I feel Gods presence and I sometimes wear a skirt now ,
Im wondering when I will be kicked out, hahaha
but I believe Jesus takes us the way we are and whats most important is first the transformation on the inside.
And I would wear blue jeans again just to get my cousin to go with me so. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | | | |
