Where are the preachers?

Does anyone have links to any good sites that treat the current crisis thoroughly from a Christian perspective? Any good educational sites from Christian economists or good sound teaching? And I don't mean prophecy sites.

Unfortunately almost all of the good sound thorough analysis and explanation of what is happening economically that I can find is only available from not-christian sources.

Jesus was not afraid to teach his disciples the realities behind the current events of his day, and warned them in no uncertain terms about what was in store for them, but once again, the church seems to be asleep at the wheel!

Well, you can start with Dave Ramsey.

TV ministries such as Benny Hinn, Kenneth Copeland, Jesse Duplantis have products on finances. I haven't bought any of their products because as a Christian, once you have accepted Jesus Christ, his spiritual healing in finances would keep you alive in poor situations. I believe living in poverty forces the subconscious mind to experience desperation that's stronger than passion and to take action by investing money in a new idea or invention. I hope my small seed as a credit card donation each month would answer Benny Hinn's and my prayers for financial success and health to end my crisis as a poor man. I thank the Lord for perfect health by eating foods that people might find less popular such as meat pies, lemon juice and blackberry jam. My invention idea is a secret between me and the Lord.

With all due respect, I am totally sick and tired of the 'me first by faith' attitude that passes for christianity in the western world. Here we have a whole civilization in melt-down, and by-and-large the TV evangelists peddle their books on 'how to prosper in difficult times by faith' etc.

Early Christians were not self-centred, they were COMMUNITY centred. They didn't think of Christianity as a 'me first' faith, but as an 'us together' faith. That thinking is virtually non existent in modern western thought.

What I want is to hear a Christian message that spells out a society-wide vision, such as John Wesley had in 1700's England. Where are the modern reformers. We have all the 'me-first-faith' preachers we need.

I have heard about as many sermons on 'tithe and you will prosper' that I can stomach in one lifetime.

The fact that the western world is on the brink of destruction is a reflection of a poor and weak variety of Christianity unique to the West that has lost it's social vision, in favour of a personal and self-centred one. Jesus didn't come to give me a faith that I could take and make ME the centre of things. He gave us a model that is to sacrifice ourselves for the greater good of humanity - to be the salt of the EARTH - that is - everyone in it!

Check out this guy David Berg - Founder of The Family International
He started the missionary organization that I'm a member of. He wrote about all kinds of things including the economy. Some of his writings are on that site under "Mo Letters" though nothing about the economy.
If you search the web a bit you might find some of his stuff about economics.

Does God want you financially well off. I think so. How else can you bless others.

I too am an inventor. Have you moved forward on your project?

Being a preacher, a pastor, a shepherd is a career and I understand that it's a job and if they don't get enough money from church donations or offerings then a government supplement would always help just like how the unemployed get theirs in the form of an unemployment benefit. Since God owns everything including money, being honest might not get you enough money but it's better than being dishonest and suffer the terrible results of being greedy such as those investment rip-offs by Bernard Madoff and Allen Stanford. I pray for everyone and also for Christians who are praying for supernatural miracles for debt and unemployment crisis to end. Wealth to me means being satisfied with your wages or commission for hard work that will keep you alive. I imagine (or more precisely, perceive) myself as a billionaire who can afford to buy food and petrol while living together with my parents. The words rich, poor are used as statistics to measure money success. To feel rich by learning God's wisdom can make money and luxuries compared to the value of air: nothing. I felt strangely at peace, becoming more healthy and gaining stronger protection against negative feelings when I read:

Proverbs 12
27Anyone too lazy to cook will starve,
but a hard worker is a valuable treasure.
