A few weeks ago some friends and I were exploring wood trails in Spring, Texas when we came upon this:
It was made of large branches which were nailed together and some smaller sticks and vines which were woven together. The roof of the shelter appeared to be a tarp or tent of some kind. There was some camouflage netting and a saw on the ground nearby.
Last Saturday we went back to explore the area. The shelter in the above pics had completely collapsed. We continued on exploring other trails and were shocked to find a second 'shelter'. (Sorry for the low quality of these pics. They were taken with a cell phone camera)
The objects on the table in the second shot are a child's plush toy and eight identical pieces of tin foil.
Not 100% sure what they are or why someone would build them. Just thought I'd share the pics with everyone.

They're inside of a wooded area near a subdivision called 'Timberwilde'. It's in Spring, TX.

Meth. Mobile meth lab, they'll build a spot up, produce a few batches and move on. The tents and tarps are meant to make it look like just folks camping to overhead observers like police copters and DEA, the woven branches and camo netting are meant to obscure the true nature of the sight, again from overhead mostly. Kids toys and the like make it look more like a family camping right? Law enforcement aircraft can read license plates from the air, so props like kids toys can go a long way toward playing "family camp" with the meth lab.
My guess is these were found far enough out that nobody would complain about a chemical smell (which is how most meth labs get busted in cities) and if you found any cigarette butts, they were a good 50 yards away from the "camp" site. This is due to the volitile nature of meth production, usually you'll find evidence of tobbacco use in a rough circle a fixed distance from the site. Meth producers don't like to blow themselves up (nevertheless they do & I suspect they are the cause of some of the recent wildfires and forest fires we've had in recent years.
I wouldn't go back or disturb anything, but if what I am saying sounds right, you might wanna let your local law enforcement know.

Thanks for the info. Didn't think about them being drug labs. I'll make a few calls and see if I can't get these things checked out.
Thanks again.
