The Nicene Creed
I believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and of all that is seen and unseen. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father. Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, one in being with the Father through Him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation He came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit He was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake He was crucified under Pontius Pilate, He suffered and was buried;
On the the third day, He rose again in fulfillment of the Scriptures ; He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father;
He will come again in glory to judge the living and dead. And His kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, Who proceeds from the Father, with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, He has spoken through the prophets. I believe In one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church.
I acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
I look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come.
Amen. If a thing ain't broke DON'T fix it ! To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Was it French spoken in 19th C. Russia? IS OUTRAGE!
IS NOT OUTRAGE !
French was a prestigious language and spoken a lot in 19th century Russia, especially by the aristocracy.
I was even told that at this time, even when speaking Russian, the high society in St Petersburg and Moscow found it was cool not to roll the "r"s but rather to prounounce them the hard way like the french do.

Yeah, I know, I know. It was spoken in Berlin as well. But then we all know that Munich is a far more German city than Berlin!

what they all said (apart from the stuff about dogs and French. Sacrebleu!). You are a much loved sister in Christ. I've always regretted that we never got an opportunity to pop over to the UK and go visit the monastery at Tolleshunt Knights together. Now that we are back in Australia I fear that we will not have another opportunity to meet in person, and that saddens me.

Yes! Tsar Nicholas II and Emperess Alexandra used to write their love letters to one another in French! How romantic is that???!!
So there you have it Michael, two canonized saints of the Orthodox Church found it suitable to use French!
C'est tres bien!
