Rival factions close to the McCain campaign have been feuding since last fall over Palin, usually waging the battle in the shadows with anonymous quotes. Now, however, some of the most well-known names in Republican politics are going on-the-record with personal attacks and blame-casting.
William Kristol, the editor of The Weekly Standard and at times an informal adviser to Sen. John McCain, touched off the latest back-and-forth Tuesday morning with a post on his magazine’s blog criticizing the Todd Purdum-authored Palin story and pointing a finger at Steve Schmidt, McCain’s campaign manager.
I watched both conventions last year and, when she came out, I was impressed with her presence and confidence as she took the stage. I was also concerned, because I was an Obama supporter and this shocking selection had everyone waiting to see her. But she did something that stunned me. She told a bold faced lie on the Obama camp.
Everyone, including Repulicans, know how close to the chest Obama held his aides. Not one of them said anything, nothing about Sarah Palin. Fox News and Rush Limbaugh tried very heard to create something, "lipstick on a pig" was one of them, but that was out of desperation because he handn't given them anything. So when Palin accused Obama of making snide comments about her transition from mayor to a vice presidential candidate I gaped in disbelief, because if that was said before that night Fox News would've been talking about it 24-hours a day. She told that lie because she needed a lead-in for her snappy community organizer comeback "except a mayor has actual responsibilities." Well, it worked for that room anyway.

I really don't see why the woman gets so much hatred. Really the vitriol she gets is bordering insanity. Democrat stooges are stooping so low as to bring frivolous ethics cases against her for things like wearing clothes with logos on them (an Arctic Cat jacket at a snowmobile race, etc) #1 so they can say "Look how entangled in ethics charges she is!!! Certainly with all those charges she CAN'T be a decent person!!" #2 Because they just hate her. Can't we accept that she's great at the state level, but just not cut out for Washington?

Hate is such a strong word. Not like her is more like it, and for good reason. In her desperation to be vice president she attempted to incite a race war by any means necessary. Of course there were people who were upset that a black candidate was in line for the job, but they were not as animated about their objections until she came on the scene. Palin is dangerously manipulative and, unlike McCain who addressed some of the comments, she let them ride and built on them at subsequent rallies. Fortunately most people saw what she is really about. Sarah Palin will never come close to the White House.

My problem with Palin was that she never seemed terribly knowledgeable about national and international affairs.
If she spends the next couple years developing an expertise in those areas, then she might be a formidable candidate.
On the other hand the GOP base seems to be disinterested in insightful and nuanced commentary on national and international affairs, preferring a sort of obnoxious jingoism expressed in soundbites, so maybe doing what I said would actually hurt her with the GOP base....

The ethics charges brought against her where corruption charges in that she had appointed several close friends to high positions and fired others with no reason, these charges were brought against her even before her VP nomination. Then there where the Palin rallies where she would shout to lunatics for hours on end telling them the Obama has terrorist friends who want to destroy America.
The gift that keeps on giving. George Bush, Jr. and good old Dan Quayle were Mensa members in comparison.
All professional comedians fear the day when she leaves the national stage. Millions of people like me will miss the hilarity that she represents with such pomp and panache.
Let’s enjoy the wonder that is Sarah Palin while we can.

When you see things like this, hate is the perfect word.

Well, I guess you go against the grain when you say she is dangerously manipulative. Most of the haters say she is too stupid to be manipulative. You could say that Palin was trying to start a race war by saying Obama hangs or hung out with terrorist Bill Ayers. However I fail to see how saying something that is true and has nothing to do with race is racist.
On the other hand I think Barack Obama who believes that race determines your character(the very definition of racism) and that he should pick Supreme Court nominees for their race . . . is a racist, albeit not a racial supremacist.

That sounds reasonable.

Shouting for hours about his terrorist friends? Well I suppose that if she did that then it would definitely be justifiable to strongly dislike or even have contempt for her. Sarah Palin made one remark about Barack Obama's terrorist acquaintance, which the lapdog media was appalled by (How DARE she speak such facts?) but I don't recall her ranting about it for hours.
Can you throw me a bone and at least admit that nothing she ever said was so stupid as revealing the location of a bunker that was built and kept secret for the purpose of protecting his life?
