After this is complete GOD will know. For HE searches the heart. HE will then send HIS HOLY SPIRIT ( ANOINTED-BORN AGAIN- SAVED ). For it is then that you shall receive the MISSION GOD has for just you and supply all your needs, even what you have not the ability to have.
Pick up GOD'S ROAD MAP to the KINGDOM of ALMIGHTY GOD ( BIBLE ) and start reading the NEW TESTIMENT till the next time you read it you will already know what IT'S going to say. For then it's locked in your heart to draw from for the rest of your life. You will NEVER be sorry you did.
I don't think anyone can say for certain that it's definitely the Mark of the Beast, but it is headed for exactly the same description. The Mark prevents people without it from buying and selling. A lot of experiments have been done on cashless communities, bar code tracking, and these implants. Put them all together, and people who refuse it will be stranded without being able to buy things, barter, or pay taxes.
Now is the time to write to Congressmen, vote, write articles, and make choices that keep your information from getting overly spread across databases. A prophecy is not a call to become a victim. It is an alert, a warning... and even if it is inevitable, there are things we can do to help people get through an event with less suffering. Prayer is needed.

Notice that Google Map can zoom in on any address; Facebook bots everything it can find on us and connects it with our friends; doctors hand out forms for us to approve dissemination of our information; health insurance companies ask us to sign forms to allow our medical information to be accessed by different health care providers; airports screen and profile; gps and auto stickers allow towns to issue traffic tickets without making human contact; immigration offices are trying to keep better track of people ... it goes on and on.
We have already allowed a lot of our privacy and freedoms to be compromised. If you are concerned, make sure you get involved in the legislation for monitoring it. Not every representative is comfortable with these changes. It's okay to have influence.
I have a different end-times view than most evangelical/conservative Christians, so I don't see this technology as being the mark of the beast. But I wholeheartedly agree that there are entirely too many "gadgets" out there that allow others to gather information about us. It's frightening what the possibilities might be, and that's why I have to remind myself almost daily that God is in control.
If I'm wrong about my end-times view (I'm what most would probably call a partial preterest), then I think there is little doubt that the technological capability exists today for the sort of end-times scenario that folks like Tim LaHaye and Hal Lindsay describe in their books.

No, it is not the mark of the beast any more than any other tracking or identification mark has been.
Imagine what we could do as Christians if we turned our attentions towards feeding the hungry, fasting, or just being kind to strangers instead of nervously poring over websites and newspapers, fretting about Revelations.

In fact, the chip that you see advertised today, is a diversion tactic. The real microchip of today that can be implanted by any means and anytime of the day, is smaller than a grain of rice. If you are implanted legally or illegally, then they will know where you are and see where you are.
Yes, we live in the era of "Big Brother" and that all began back in the 1950's.

Well it may indeed tie into the beast of Revelation . As a physical manifestation of what the beast represents , and as a controlling device .
In the last days satan will be cast down from heaven to the earth .( Revelation 12 ) He will then seek to rule over and persecute God's people .
The beast represents his dangerous entity / ruling power which seeks to hunt , trap + destroy .
It appears God will allow this beast to reign on earth for 3.5 years . ( Daniel 7:25 , 12:7 + Rev. 12:14 ) And this short lived reign will be terminated by Christ's Glorious Return . This hour of final conflict will eliminate the ability to remain lukewarm spiritually , and we who are then present will either grow hot by the fire of our godly convictions , or wax cold through fearful doubting . Remember Jesus said -
I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou were cold or hot. <-----> Revelation 3:15

Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit. <-----> Matthew 12:33
Since , time will be running quite short , the urgency for us to be wholly committed is then greatly intensified ... so much so , as to allow that which will precipitate a clear division amongst us . But we can be encouraged in knowing ahead of time that these things mean Christ's Return is near , and that His Return will usher in God's Kingdom of Grace & Peace .

Note how the above lists three things - the mark , the name , or the number of the beast , without which no one can buy or sell . The mark fits with those privately employed , the name with those directly employed by the beast system , and the number fits with those collecting funds from that system ( like welfare or social security ) .
It's no doubt we're closer to the end than ever before .
There's a lot of talk about 2012 being the end because of the Mayan calendar ends then ... I doubt that's right , although some big catastrophe may indeed coincide .
When I was younger I had strong visions of the end , and in those visions I appeared to be an old man , which if correctly understood gives us about 30 more years . Nevertheless , we should live each day fully unto The Lord , knowing tomorrow may never come !
