Was the angel in the bible that troubled the water an angel of the Lord or an evil being?
as mentioned in John 5:4,
4For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.

Modern English translations often ommit this passage because it doesn't appear in the oldest extant Greek manuscripts. Tertullian (AD 200) is the first Latin writer, and John Chrysostom (AD 400) the first Greek writer, to refer to it.
The intermittent bubbling up may have been caused by an underground spring, which was understood as an angelic action. On the other hand, it is possible that angelic activity was indeed the cause of the stirring of the water. The role of spiritual powers must not be discounted.
Some Christians see the pool as a prefigurement of baptism.
A place of miracles <compare> A Person of miracles
For one person at one time <compare> For everyone at any time
Through angelic mediation <compare> Without angelic mediation
For physical and temporal well-being <compare> For spiritual and eternal well-being which begins with baptism
the Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away...this includes health

I really detest when people say that.. that God makes us sick or puts cancer on people.. I sat in a church one sunday morn listening to a pastor (who I deeply respected) say stuff like that.. I could not go back to that church for some time. really though.. no, the Lord giveth and He giveth much.. and then.. people put their trust somewhere else, go astray or whatever... and what the Lord giveth goes asunder. have faith! He giveth and giveth and giveth more even..
