What is Post-Charismatic
Some of our detractors criticise us for using what we are not as defining us, so what are we?

IMHO (and feel free to add, correct, question, debate, etc) we:

1. Are Spirit-Filled/Operate in the Spiritual gifts

2. We attend a variety of Churches/Fellowships/Groups that may or may not be historically thought of as "Spirit-Filled"

3. Exercise discretion and prudence when operating in the Gifts

4. Place a higher regard for the Fruit than the Gifts.

5. Place a higher regard in the written Word than "revelation"

Let's get a nice manifesto (or dare I even say ... creed) going here.

I found this on the non-WoF subforum as I was having a little interested read. The title for it was "what is post-charismatic". Now I will never be part of a movement that defines itself by what it is not, but I look through their attempt to codify a statement of faith and praxis, and I think: which of these 5 do I not do? Which of these 5 do anyone who IS WORD OF FAITH NOT DO or NOT AGREE WITH?

Why am I not post-charismatic?

I am a little confused by it all - can any WoF person explain it to me.

It sounds Word of Faith to me, but those who are not Word of Faith might be...Word of doubt and unbelief... word of religious traditions and doctrines of demons...some kind of word... I don't know they could be anything. But the bible says:

Rom 10:8
"The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the word of faith which we preach ):
NKJV

Evidently Paul was preaching the Word of Faith. I believe Paul said to follow him as long as he was following Christ. So I guess for some out there Paul at this time was not following Christ... That was his Word of Faith Days (LOL)...

Agreed with post 2 and 3, so why is that post-charismatics feel so vehemently that they must distance themselves from us?

I don't know, Bill.

All I know is that a number of people on the non-WoF forum have started calling themselves that. If you ask them what they mean they seem to be saying "charismatics that are grown up" or "charismatics without the junk".

I am lacking understanding and if I ask them they think I am making a dig, which to be fair when I hear them say that they are all growd up and don't have junk - implication we are junkie babies, I probably am.

So, I don't really now. I think it is linked with the emergent church, sort of charismatics that want to follow Rob Bell and his noomina.

That's a shame. Some of those Nooma videos are awesome, but I'm saddened to hear that Rob Bell is defining himself as post-charismatic if that means he is aligning with the emergent church. I hate the idea that we should shift with culture rather than shifting with the Holy Spirit. It (the emergent church) seems like just another way to align ourselves with the world rather than not being of the world.

I also hope that whatever post-charismatics think they are adults know that they are probably enjoying their adulthood at the expense of child-like faith. They talk about excesses and being measured in the use of the gifts and what-not, but why would you not want God to move powerfully in your life at whatever point He wants, however much He wants and what about Jesus ministry was measured or not excessive. It seems to me that Jesus was quite liberal with both fruits and gifts which all stemmed form His liberalness with love, and extravagant, excessive, passionate, fiery, no holds bar, I will tell you the truth even though it offends you, die for you sort of love.

Yes, let's just mellow out.

I didnt like that definition supplanter. sounded kind of sad. Then you went and did it to me again and said Emerging Church! Is this something new and different?

Post-charismatic, as far as I know are people who believe in the gifts of the spirit, but have moved on past some of the extremes and excesses they have seen within the pentecostal/charismatic/wof movement.

You and I were sharing in the main forum about some of the mess we have seen in the UK pentecostal churches, you shared that you were pioneering a church ' to a different drumbeat' within WOF. That makes you post-something. The post charismatic people are looking for charismatic in the sense of spirit filled but to a different drum beat from what they have seen.

I dont think there is much difference between you and some of them, they stand on the promises of God, believe in the gifts, but reject some of the extremes they have soon, as i gather you do too!
