It's taking a traditional institution that has existed unchanged in most Western culture (Vikings being the exception) for over a millenia.
If you want equal rights, make a contract with one another or convince insurance companies to recognize you in some status -- do not change my traditional institution and my heritage.
(One could also point out that in the majority of all societies, including our precious Eastern hemisphere, homosexual marriage has never existed and never will).

It is kind of sad that people would be concerned about an Australian tabloid newspaper's online poll.
I'm not really sure what flooding it with no votes achieves either... would it make anyone less "concerned" to know that the poll only said what they wanted it to say because they manipulated it?
Fortunately it doesn't determine Australian policies, we will see full equality soon enough and it won't be a moment too soon.

There were dramatic moments of massive liberal changes in the 17th and 18th century, and even massive attempts at economic collectivization in the 16th, 9th, 5th centuries in Europe and the ME, and in China in the 3rd century BC amongst other occasions.
But all of these movements were brief and quickly ended.
Rome was restored by Augustine with things like the law that illegalized adultery in 18 BC, and then when he died it fell again to immoral hands who subsequently self-destructed the entire Empire.
Every nation who adopts gay marriage, normalizes homosexuality, normalizes sin and adultery, will quickly be destroyed by the natural factors that contribute to the downfall of it...
Humans were meant to live Godly and stoic lives -- if we do not live the way God wants us to live it is natural for us to fail.

If that is true, why are you and so many others so concerned? If it is inevitably going to return to what you want, there is nothing to fear, right?

These comparisons are entirely off-topic.
Jews and catholics are citizens and humans who want the same right as other people, so are women, to cast a vote or to 'graduate.'
Homosexuals have those rights -- we simply have prevented them from entering an institution that is BY DEFINITION, BY DEFINITION, BY DEFINITION against what they PRACTICE.
This would be more like saying "Next thing you know, women will be allowed to call themselves men on applications, and Jews and Catholics will be able to insist that they are Muslims in order to go on the Hajj to Mecca."
