ThickShades and I have had a verbal fight at the
Youtube video, where ThickShades promised to present scientific evidence for God, but failed miserably to do so, instead citing the old circular argument of God and the Bible, and sprinkling with Bible codes and DNA codes. I want to get ThickShades an opportunity to engage me in a more formal setting so that we can discuss his "evidence" without the horrendous Youtube comment platform and its 500 word limit.
I have some rules for this debate, which I expect ThickShades to accept, as they are nothing out of the ordinary. If you, ThickShades wish to discuss a rule, please do so here rather than in the debate thread which I will post once you have answered with your acceptance.
Rules:
1. A maximum of 35 posts per person, including opening statement. After 35 posts, the debate is over, no matter what has been resolved.
2. No limit on number of words in a post.
3. A participant has a maximum of three days to respond to a post. If he cannot meet this stipulation, the debate is considered over. Special circumstances that make either participant unable to reply in the set three-day period must be accounted for before the period is up.
4. Evidence must be empirical. Personal experiences are not evidence.
5. The defenition of the word 'empirical' that I use is this:
Pertaining to or based on experience; Pertaining to, derived from, or testable by observations made using the physical senses or using instruments which extend the senses; Verifiable by means of scientific experimentation.
This means, in essence, that bible passages are not empirical, as we have no way of knowing scientifically if the passages are true or false, as we cannot know the sources.
6. While the debate can become heated, no swearing will take place as to not anger each other or our spectators. This applies especially to myself.
7. The topic of the debate will be Evolution and abiogenesis, as well as the biblical concepts of global flood and creation, as well as the age of the earth. I will allow ThickShades to make his opening statement after posting the introductory post in the debate thread, in order for me to see what his arguments actually are.
If you have further rules you wish to add, ThickShades, feel free to post them here. These are my terms for debate.
/Edit: In accordance with rule 3 I am obliged to inform that I will be leaving the country on Monday the 15th, and unable to access a computer until the 25th of June. The debate could either start after I have returned, or take a break during the time I am gone.
