Creation & EvolutionForum for the discussion of this important topic. This forum is open to non-believers. There is a Christians-only forum in the Christians-only section too.
Has this board caused anyone to change their mind on anything?
One thing I am truly curious about, is if evolutionists and creationists alike are so adamant in our beliefs, that despite the millions of words said on this board none of us have actually considered them.
There have been numerous discussions concerning evolution and creation on this board, with evolutionists providing countless examples and links to evidence for evolution. Yet each time, I see the same few creationists shielding their eyes from it, and retreating behind the ever so protective barriers of their bibles. Which is why I am asking, is there anyone on here, who has listened to the evidence being provided in these discussions, and actually changed their thoughts, at least a little?
This also can be said the other way around about those of us who believe in evolution. Have we, taken the things that are said by creationists seriously enough?
Personally, I feel like I have done my best after reading many of these threads to truly try and consider what has been said by creationists in favor of creation, the problem is, they don't say much. Mostly, they just attack evolution instead of defend creation, which is why I have yet to be swayed at all by these debates, and my opinions remain relatively unchanged.
I think the biggest thing I've learned here is how abiogenesis is separate from evolution.

God did it --- the end.
You certainly say a lot considering there's not much to say.

Unfortunately creationists are caught in a trap, even if they looked at the evidence for evolution and thought it made sense their surroundings are not condusive to believing in evolution,
it's OK for us to sit and tell them they should change their minds and see sense, they are the ones living amongst creationists, it's not just a case of changing their minds it's more a case of changing their whole lives, they have lived with creationism all their lives, everyone they know is a creationists, friends and family are wrapped up in creationism, they didn't just decide to become creationists, the process has taken many many years and can not be undone overnight.
Perhaps the only chance they will have of getting away from creationism is to move away from it, all we can do is wish them the best of luck and be grateful it's not us it's happening to.
Yet each time, I see the same few creationists shielding their eyes from it, and retreating behind the ever so protective barriers of their bibles.
The amount of creationists that comes to this section of the board is very small.
To ignore evolution isn't that hard. Just don't look at the evidence. As long as you live in a religious bubble it's easy to ignore it.
To debate the evidence however is another thing. You have to make up stories like "science being a mass conspiracy", "Illuminatididit" and "all data is wrong".
Anyone looking at the astounding piles of evidence from the many fields of science has to make up his choice; either accept evolution or ignore it completely.
If you do the latter, and see the evidence right in front of you, then you are a special kind of creationist. And I don't mean that in a positive way. Just look at the people who defend creationism here, on a Christian board even. There aren't that many. In fact. their numbers are extremely low.
Most creationist simply ignore evolution. In order to 'debate' it you end up with an intellectual black hole like peanutbutterman and crocoduckboy. Most people, even creationists, aren't willing to sink that low.

As a Christian described as a right-winger (whatever that means), it's not the countless examples of evolution presented that is or isn't impressive, it's that evolutionary science hasn't changed humanity in any helpful way. It's just so much converstion at a private club of elitist holier-than-thous.
"All of life came from primordial . . ."
And then a gangster shoots an innocent three-year old down the street in the bad nieghborhood as he is displaying his fittest survival technique.
"Look at the intense and incredible intricasies and complexity of the universe down to the human cell and beyond."
Yeah but the Pastor down the street just left his wife and kids for his young secretary.
Atheism and Religion has taken us no further than alley cats screeching in the back yard at night. Are they fighting or humping?
What self-worth is displayed in evolutionary scoemce other than some scientist getting a grant and a pat on the back from his buddies?

That 0 x 0 = the universe?
That is "the bottom line" of evolution. Too many anti-religious people close their ears and eyes to that.
We Christians have listened and heard you evolutionary-derived atheists loud and clear. And sorry, but evolution as creating anything worthwhile is intellectually laughable and somewhat insulting to human intelligence. From abiogenesis to the descent of man characatures, evolution leaves people with an intellectual void too big to have any worth any longer. You have shown and displayed what and how evolution works and the questions man has have not been answered, just silenced by those in academia that do not want to be challenged by reality.
Sound famliar?

You lauah and ridicule them away. Atheism is reaching its finally heyday and will retreat back to some coffee room at universities around the world where comfortable and well paid fat men can complain about the conditions of the inept among them. That being any of us that are not comfy high paid college professors.
Personally, I feel like I have done my best after reading many of these threads to truly try and consider what has been said by creationists in favor of creation, the problem is, they don't say much.
That sounds the typical atheist's response. Why be typical? You only live a short time on earth. And then you're left with an eternity of regrets.
Mostly, they just attack evolution instead of defend creation, which is why I have yet to be swayed at all by these debates, and my opinions remain relatively unchanged.
I went to college, I was an atheist, I listened to the creationists, philosophers and pundits, and I chose Christ Jesus as a scientific fact based on observation. I was one of you, and now I'm one of them.
How about the rest of the posters here?
Yeah, let's here from them too. I almost never hear an atheist ask that question. Usually they are too consumed with railing and denigrating creationists. By the way, evolution IS creationism Scientifically, analytically and observably so.
