Joe,

I do like your "don't limit God" approach. Do you know my pastor? He is always saying that. You can find him on YouTube. Do a search for "Pastor Shepard". You will love him. I am going to turn him on to this SPNG thing!

I don't like penny stocks; it's too much of a gamble. I prefer to invest in healthy businesses that have been around for at least a few years and have overlooked low stock prices. I've been investing like that since I was 16 (though at first since I was young I had to do it under my father's name, with the agreement that he gets a share of profits.)

My best stock purchase was Fuqi International, a Chinese jewelry company. I bought some shares in April for around $4.80 a share believing I would hold onto them for a few years and that it would take a while for their price to be adjusted to match their worth. The company had no debt, plenty of cash reserves, increasing sales over a few years (and was actually doing fine during the recession but since it's in a luxury business during a recession it took a stock price hit) and yet had a very low price to earnings ratio. But in like two months the market saw the stock for what it was worth and it soared to $28 a share. I sold it at $18 because it went up too fast and unnaturally for my liking and I wanted to take my profits and invest elsewhere.

The Lord doesn't give stock tips, just like he doesn't give out lottery numbers, or blackjack hands to play. You got lucky. Playing the stock market isn't really any different from gambling at cards. There's much more luck than skill involved, which is why "experts" who make six figures annually never agree on when and what to buy and sell.

The Lord may or may not give stock tips and he may or may not fill gutshot straights. YMMV on that stuff.

But there is no possible way a rational, thinking being can argue that the stock market is just luck. That is a farcical position.

If it were just luck, how is it that the market leads the economy? If it were just luck some stock based mutual fund would have been positive last year. Or did everybody get "unlucky" at once? that's like everyone playing blackjack, and craps, and roulette in a casino going on an hour long loosing streak at the same time. Just doesn't happen.

Was it luck that auto stocks rebounded when the cash for clunkers program happened? No, stocks behaved in a predictable way.

So it's not luck. It is a very complex system and it is not in any way an exact science. In large part it is based on how people "feel" about spending money in retail. So there are predictions and possibilities, but it ain't luck. And it sure isn't gambling (taking risk based on luck). If your gambling in the market (trading without knowing the stocks or what you are doing) then you will most likely loose money. Again that is pretty much a sure thing, no bad luck required.

The experts never agree on which stock to buy or on which team will win this week's game. Does that mean it's luck that desides the NFL? I don't think so.

It may not exactly be luck, but it is gambling, because a stock's performance cannot be predicted with anywhere near 100% accuracy. I said it was more luck than skill, not that it was only luck.

Any serious trader will tell you trading stocks is a gamble, with no guarantee of not losing your shirt.
That's why guys like jim cramer, who have studied the market for years, and who is smarter than 98% of the population, make horrendous calls like "buy bear stearns" just before it crashed , or "buy wachovia" .

So have you made a fortune in the market, seeing as how it behaves in such a predictable way? You might consider selling your wisdom-people would pay a lot to be assured of making money in stocks.

God really is looking out for me. I won $20 off a $1 lottery ticket! That's 20 to 1! I think I'll go buy more!

A quick way to test a claim is to see where it leads. While people sometimes get unusually lucky or unlucky in the stock market over short periods of time, what really matters is what you can gain or lose over longer periods of time.

200% gain in 4 days? Sounds awesome if that were realistic for the long term. If I start with $1,000 and get a 200% gain every four days (effectively tripling my money), I'd be a trillionaire in matter of months. The number of trillionaires on the planet (zero) should tell people about the consistency of this kind of stock performance.

If someone tells you that with time and effort, you can build wealth over the long term, they may be worth listening to. But if someone tells you that you can get rich quickly, run.

The devil is a liar. "Call unto me and i will answer you and show you great and mighty things that you know not of". 'The Holy Spirit shows us things that are shortly to come to pass" Jesus Christ had a whole lot of things to say about money. Only thing is Christians" Think God is gonna drop money in there lap. Oh well He does somtimes but for the most part "the kingdom of heaven suffers violence and the violent take it by force"Read Isaiah 23:18 I could go on and on but forever hearing they will not hear becuase there ears have waxed over and there eyes have been blinded by the god of this world. ya'll keep thinking that God isn't concerned with money and I will believe the report of the Lord Beloved above all things I would that you prosper and be in health even as your spirit prospers
