I really enjoy studying the Hebrew scriptures--reading them, thinking about them, and seeing how I can apply them to my life.
Lately I've been reading 2 Kings and there is a pattern with new kings coming to power, but not being able to blot out the sin of idolatry. The scriptures say they didn't "destroy the shrines on the hills--the people still sacrificed and burned incense there."
Here: 2 Kings 12:2-3; 14:1-4; 15:3-4; and 15:34,35
Over and over again the kings seemingly couldn't stop people from going to the "shrines on the hills."
Does anyone have any insight on that?
