which would mean that the person only claimed Christ but did not really know Him prior to becoming a muslim.
to put it simply, it's all about the seed and whether it really took root or not. I think I read that somewhere once.

We are sealed by the Spirit, which denotes ownership. We are not "on loan" to Him, we are His.

The Bible? Haha
I don't know though... I mean, when a person receives the Holy Spirit, are they still not human? Do they still not have free-will? Choose to obey God or not?
I'd have to look up his/their name, but there was an Evangelist (long time ago, early 1900's) who did healing services (much like Benny Hinn), and there were miracles performed and such, however the claim is that he 'lost his way' or 'fell', because he came to the belief that he was Elijah's reincarnation... Did he heal by the power of the Holy Spirit and then decide one day, though having the Holy Spirit, that he was Elijah and was worthy of worship?
It's those kinds of real stories that confuse me on this issue.
You may find that story on "God's Generals".

We still have choices to make, walk in a manner worthy of our calling or indulge our flesh (our body of sin and death).
Mat 7:21"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. Mat 7:22"Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?' Mat 7:23"And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.'
Luk 13:23 And someone said to Him, "Lord, are there just a few who are being saved?" And He said to them, Luk 13:24"Strive to enter through the narrow door; for many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able. Luk 13:25"Once the head of the house gets up and shuts the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock on the door, saying, 'Lord, open up to us!' then He will answer and say to you, 'I do not know where you are from.' Luk 13:26"Then you will begin to say, 'We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets'; Luk 13:27and He will say, 'I tell you, I do not know where you are from; DEPART FROM ME, ALL YOU EVILDOERS.' Luk 13:28"In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but yourselves being thrown out. Luk 13:29"And they will come from east and west and from north and south, and will recline at the table in the kingdom of God. Luk 13:30"And behold, some are last who will be first and some are first who will be last."

Sure, but that does not mean we are in danger of losing our salvation. There are consequences for our actions and decisions, but our salvation is dependant on Him. We cannot be good enough to save ourselves and we cannot be good enough to keep ourselves saved. That would indicate a works righteousness which places things back on us instead of on the Cross and Christ.

Upon reading Scripture, I am 99.9% convinced that a person, even after receiving Salvation, can walk away and still end up in hell (if by being mislead or willfully disobeying God).
I’m convinced from the biblical evidence that it is possible to walk away from salvation and lose eternal life.
Contemporary Methodist theologian, Dr. Thomas Oden, is firmly convinced that genuine Christian faith can be lost:
"That faith can be lost is evident from Jesus' own description of those who 'believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away' (Luke 8:13 . . .) Timothy was instructed to 'hold on to faith,' aware that some had entirely 'shipwrecked their faith' (I Tim. 1:19). Paul specifically named two shipwrecks - Hymenaeus and Alexander - and elsewhere we learn of others (Demas, Philetus)" [Thomas C. Oden, Life in the Spirit (systematic theology, vol. 3), HarperSanFrancisco, 1992, pp. 150-151]
That Christian believers may "finally fall," can be seen from these Scriptures: Ezek. 18:24; ; Hab. 2:4; I Tim. 1:18-19; Rom. 11:17; John 15:1; 2 Pt. 2:20; Heb. 6:4-6; 10:38; Matt. 5:13; 12:43-35; 24:10; Luke 21:34; John 8:31-32; 1 Cor. 9:27; 10:3; 2 Cor. 6:1; Gal. 5:4; 6:9; Heb. 3:14; 2 Pt. 3:17; 2 John 8; Rev. 3:11; Matt. 18:35.

Sorry but again, the mind of Christ cannot deny Christ. So read the parable of the sower. Out of 4 kinds of people who hear the word, only one group doesn't fall. That's the group that has the root (the Holy Spirit).
The others had no root and thus turned away. But since they had no root, they were never born again to begin with. Romans 11:18, "You do not support the root, the root supports you."
"A good tree cannot bear bad fruit and neither can a bad tree bear good fruit." that's because as Romans 11:16 says, "if the root is holy, so are the branches." That's an irrevocable truth. The root of the tree is what makes the tree good or bad. When the root is the Holy Spirit, the tree can never be bad because a good tree cannot bear bad fruit.
1 Corinthians 1;8, "He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord." So the verses you are quoting are written to everyone, the saved as well as the unsaved and as a reminder of the direction in which God wants us to go.
