That is true, it is like the Norwegian whaling industry. But, to me it doesn't matter whether it is big or small, I just don't like whaling.
I personal did never eat whale!
Me neither.

I like how Japan forged an independent path to development and maintained an independent foreign policy. I like your electronics, games, and music (And some of your animation).
what donīt you like?
Allowing foreign troops on your soil and the recognition of Kosovo.
Your tradition is to emphasize the welfare of the group-the collective, national good-- over the individual good.
No, we simply forgot to remind the American public of who they were buying their cars from. Your country should be very thankful I was not in Congress in the '80s because if I had been, there would be no Japanese auto industry today
So, then, we should have protected our car industry with a wall of tariffs and allowed it to keep turning out substandard products free of competition?
East Germany did that, and this was the result:
Note that I'm not saying Japan didn't engage in some unfair trade practices--they did, and those should have been responded to more vigorously. But a wall of tariffs and regulations to protect failure was not and is not the answer.
Am I crazy for thinking that little car would be kinda cool with a better paint job?

Okay, I'm only going to focus on the positives because any negatives I could think of concerning Japan have been gone over ad nauseum.
- Nintendo (Especially the Legend of Zelda series)
- Konami (For Castlevania and Silent Hill)
- Capcom for numerous incarnations of MegaMan/RockMan
- Imaginative earthquake-proof architecture
- I would like to visit to see the countryside... if there's any countryside left.
- Fuji Apples are my favorite.

I have never been to Japan but my father has lived there. A beautiful country with very friendly and educated people. High standard of living, good health care.
On the down side, no immigration and that you can't be accepted as a Japanese even if you lived there a long time and adopted the Japanese way of life. I really like your fellow country man Genki Sudo, his spirit is beautiful "We are all one".

If it's a Trabant (which it looks like), then yes, you are. There were just a few things wrong with them:
They put out enough smoke to make them a real pollution problem - about nine times the pollution of an ordinary european car.
The engine was so underpowered that a 0-60 time of 20+ seconds wasn't uncommon.
The bodywork was made of fibreglass over a steel frame, so in a collision it will completely disintigrate.
They were also renowned for their low build quality, being even worse than cheap British cars (that had lowered the bar quite considerably).
Japanese designed and engineered cars are in a whole different class as far as reliability and practicality are concerned. After my Italian small car proceeded to dump major parts of the drive-train all over a busy motorway, I switched to a Micra, and aside from one brake-light bulb, I haven't had a single problem in more than two years.
