As you know I too struggle with this. But I have taken some time to really prayer abut this. I know I belong in these forums and I will peacefully, quietly and lovingly go about the business I have here.
Those who speak the loudest are those who need our prayers the most. They push away the truth because they want to have that truth without the "burden" that comes with that truth. I pray so that they will no longer see the "burden" as such, but will see the get outpouring of graces instead. It is hard sometimes, but I can only change me and that is what I work on every day!
Love and prayers for you Joab!
Edie (EDB)

Matthew 18.15-21 is restoration discipleship....to share in love some basic questions about Jesus, the trinity, our faith, and permit the person to digest, meditate, accept or reject our presentation ....
Sincerity, a relationship, and genuine love should make an impact...but St. Paul says some provide seed, others sow, others water and harvest, that God might get the increase....
we are to pray the Lord of the Harvest , for no one comes, except the Father draw them, and no one goes to the father, except through the son |

I have a great deal of respect for the Catholic Church, and for you in particular.
I can say with certainty that there are many people within the Catholic Church who disagree more with Catholic doctrine than I do, and for my part, I'm happy to consider Catholics who hold true to what the Church teaches (meaning the Catholic Church) my brothers and sisters. |

Blessings to you. We have never had a quarrel, my Brother in Jesus.

take myself for instance. But you know what, we all are in our own place in our walk with Christ, some prefer a smaller congregation more than anything else.. a closer one on one.
My entire family is catholic.. I have an aunt who is a faithful catholic, my grandmother was also I loved her so much, my grandad..but in my immediate family (parents, sisters, brother).. they do not really believe. Maybe it was just the times we grew up in. But because of their, literal, hatred toward Christ, I felt it was imporatnt for me to attend a different church. I have one sister who is a lesbian, and literally, she will foam at the mouth and rage at the mention of the name Jesus.
it's not pretty. There are problems within the huge hierarchy of the catholic church I think, politics etc.. a lot of room for wolves to creep in. but again I am so very aware of the church standing strong for Christians throughout the ages..holding our faith.. its very perplexing.. even I can tell you having visited many churches through the years.. there are problems in most every church. But we, as believers, we are all one body of Christ.. no jew, no greek, no gentile, no male nor female.. I have met on fire true believers who love the Lord everywhere in every church, well almost every church there was one that cold as a stone but that's another story.... it has been a truly interesting and rewarding journey.
I will pray for you, as you pray for me. Forgivness is key to our salvation, and in that we are healed. Each church fulfills a particular role for the body of Christ, of that I am sure.
I am not sure if the one post above where he says.. forgiveness without repentence.. is he referring to non-catholics not repenting? I hope not, because nothing could be further from the truth.
Visit other churches maybe, get to know them a little.. you will see how much they love the Lord and then you will know.. there is nothing to forgive them for in this matter.. only forgive ourselves for hardness of our own hearts. |

Thank you for this awesome post. I agree with you in every word you wrote.
I happen to be a convert. I grew up in non-Catholic Christian Churches. I think we Catholics could take a hard look at our Christian brothers and sisters and see where we could learn from them. Surely our love of scripture and (hghgmmm) singing is something we might pick up on. Also fellowship and service. Most Catholics believe we are right on top of that, but if you have never been a non-Catholic Christian, you would never realize that we are lagging a bit.
In fact, we could learn from those folks we (sometimes) do not recognize as part of the Body of Christ.
We could learn from LDS where supporting the Church financially and also family is concerned.
We could learn from the Jehovah Witnesses about evangelizing, even when folks insult us and slam doors in our face.
Please hang out here with us. You have much to share.
By the way, I work with a Lesbian who was raised Catholic. She behaves much like your sister. She says she is not Christian. I am so openly Christian, even at work that she has a problem with me.
What do I do? I love her and am very nice to her. Most of all, I pray for her. She is not my problem, she is the Lords. He can fix her.
