Creation & EvolutionForum for the discussion of this important topic. This forum is open to non-believers. There is a Christians-only forum in the Christians-only section too.
All the rest of these posts were kind of confusing, (though I'm sure only light banter), but I think you have a very good point there.
I agree that very good doesnt necessarily or even deinitely mean perfect.
As I said, I find it interesting that so often the "GENESIS IS LITERAL!!!!!1" crowd kinda fudge the definition of two very basic English words when it suits.
And analogy isn't light banter, it are SERIOUS!!1
(Although, if more people realised that Gen 1 was an analogy, there wouldn't be much left to debate on the cre vs evo side )

You put a kid and a loaded gun in a room and the kid shoots himself.
Oh, for crying out loud --- here we go with that PRATT again.
Look --- just for the sake of the point of my OP, let's just set this aside --- since you apparently believe God embedded Murphy's Law into His creation, and I do not.

Fair enough?
There was a point in your OP?
No, I don't think I'll set it aside; seeing as I've never heard any literalist get around that dilemma sufficiently well, so why don't you have a go. Here's a hint - calling omniscience (and to a lesser extent, determinism) "Murphy's Law" is a poor start.
You could also try answering the point about the fact that evolution doesn't necessarily necessitate death - merely efficient survival to reproduce. That doesn't need death for it to actually function.
