How long has man been created.

Just interested if anyone has tell me how long since Adam was created, according to the Bible....I believe this can be worked out.

I know it is close to 6000 years....but exactly how many years, was what I was interested in.

Modern humans have been around for approximately 200,000 years or so.

If you're trying to calculate the "age" of man from a literal reading of Genesis it adds up to somewhere betweeen 4,000 and 6,000 years. They get this number by adding up the ages of the various people and tracing it through the genealogies.

The age of Man can be traced back to the fall, around 6000 years. We run into a snag going further back since the time between Adam's creation and his fall is unknown.

We can't tell. Biblical geneologies often skip over names and often only include important figures in genealogies. So it could be 6,000 years, could be 10,000, could be 50,000......

Dear Blue,
I use the Chronology study of one Frank Klasson who wrote a small book titled "The Chronology of the Bible" which is now out of print. It is the best source that I have found as it is totally complete through the time of Jesus. Klassen was an engineer - an Architect as I recall. In the 60's and 70's he drew out graphically bible timelines on his drafting board - it took him 10 years to do so. Most all of these were taken from the Bible itself. He basically worked backward in time since history is well documented beginning about the time of Alexander the Great.

According to Klassen's research - Adam was created on Friday April 1st (Who says that God doesn't have a sense of humor) in the year 3975BC. Jesus was born on April 1st 5BC. Jesus was baptised around Oct 1st 25AD almost exactly 4,000 years after the creation of Adam. So to today time, since the creation of Adam, is 5984 years. So we have 16 years yet to the 6,000 year mark. Ussher is close by a few years. So it looks like 2025 is the year 6,000.

His work is available on the net among the used booksellers. He also has a "Klassen Calendarized Study Bible" which is still around. I found one for only $8.00 (KJV) - but I was lucky on that one.

Some think that the Adam and Eve story is just a myth. However there exists a geneology of Adam part of which is in Matthew. Some people claim that they can trace their ancestry back to Adam. Consider Athiesm, which claims to be "scientific" - no such geneology exists for anyone. How much more scientific can you get than having a list of chronological names of generations.

Larry

The Bible gives us a starting point in Genesis 5:3. ....when it says that.... Adam was 130 years old when Seth was born.

Well, only the Lord knows for sure. But this is the most intelligent and complete study that I know of.

I find it interesting that no man-made structures or writting systems have been found that are older than 6000 years.

Sure....and to get off the point a little.....I also find it interesting if man evovled...how is it there are no species of apeman still around....or all sorts of weird evolutionary beings that led to man.

No.... all men and women on this earth have that superior intelligence that animals do not have....the ability to reason and communicate with each other and also communicate with their Creator.

Just another nail in the coffin for the evolution of man.
