This is my first post!
I'm in the process of setting up Christian dating site. I really want to make it the best one out there as there seems to be a lack of really great ones.
Just wondering if any of you guys had any experience of dating dates?
What good experiecnes have you had / what bad experiences?
How could online dating for Christians be improved?
I am not the biggest expert in the online dating field as I am hopeless at logging into places on a regular basis. But I have had one friend who successfully found her husband through eharmony and plenty of friends who found it a waste of time.
I have done some online dating but it didn't work out so I have given in. Hope it works out better for you than it did for me.

I'm kind of embarrassed to say this, but during the time I was looking for a girlfriend over the internet I went to ChristianMingle.com and searched the profiles there and looked for names and locations. Then I would go to Myspace and do corresponding searches with the information I got off of ChristianMingle, and talk to women that way. I was cheap and didn't want to put out the money for a dating service that probably wasn't going to yield any results anyway.
Now if you want to start a dating service, you have to worry about being sued for not including homosexuals in your criteria, like e-harmony was.
Personally, i think there are already two decent enough ones out there, and that more might just spread out where people go for dating sites even worse. But if God has called u to do this, by all means, do so.
Anyway, the one i like the most is Christianmingle.com. It sends u four matches with pics every time it gets some new ones to your email address, which is like once a day or about 3-4 times a week. It also is very well put together and has a lot of details to fill in, which is important.
The other site i think is good, mainly because it is entirely free, is christiandatingforfree.com. It isnt as shiny as christianmingle, but its free, so i dont really care. If more people used it, which would make sense because its free, it would actually be not too bad. It could use a decent amount more details per person so that people get a better overview of who their potential talkbuddy is, but again, they arent charging anything, sooo... And I have noticed they recently added a live chat as well, so it appears the owner still cares about the site. heh.
As for complaints I have about some sites (not the ones i may have mentioned)- A)they charge money, and sometimes excessive amounts. B) they dont make people write, or give enough categories, so there is a lot of detail about the person that other people can find when they search. c) They dont make the pictures allowed to be easily seen- aka- the pics arent big enough to really tell what the people look like. At least one site actually crops all photos so you only see the face, which i think is a horrible idea, because a person's surroundings can tell stuff about them.

The best dating site I've found is Christiandatingforfree.com. It's completely free! I haven't had much luck on it honestly but I've tried others and it seems to be the best one I've found.

I'd never seen Christiandatingforfree.com before - it looks good.
I guess the angle that I'm coming from is that there aren't many good UK only Christian dating sites. From the friends I've quizzed about it, they generally aren't too keen on using international sites (like Christiandatingforfree.com) were there maybe 70K registered users, only about 1,000 are from the UK.
If a dating site is free, don't you think that can put people off. Nothing worth having is free, therefore I get the impression that on free sites they'll be lots of bogus profiles, don't you think?
I do know someone who tried setting up a uk christian dating site and it hasn't exactly set the world alight despite the team being fairly experinaced. The biggest problem you're going to have is getting enough members with profiles who have visited in the last 1-2 weeks to convince other people to sign up for a trial... and that's before getting people to decide it's worth paying for.
For the UK the only real competitors are Christianmingle, christiancafe and the free site Fusion101 which has huge amounts of people.
After reading this post, I filled out all the junk so I could browse around Christianmingle website.... After 15 minutes, I deleted the profile and was reminded why I don't do the whole internet dating thing. It was scary, to say the least.

I like how eharmony matches you up with those with similiar interests and the steps let you really get to know alot about a person. I dont like having to pay so much money. I also don't like how there isnt very many close to my area on most christian sites.
