Sometimes great things are right there under our eyes. There is a really great secret in John 14—one that has changed the world and will change it much more. Yet, many have missed it. Let me explain. Here Jesus tells us that it is the Father speaking through Him and that it is the Father in Him doing the works He has been doing. Jesus is the Messiah. He is God the Son. Yet, it was the Father in Him doing the great works we see Jesus doing, including the buying back of humankind. The Father did these things. Jesus paid the ultimate price with His life. Yet, the Father led Him to do that also.
Jesus' power came as the Father worked through Him, for the Father was in Him. Well, in verses 15-17, we see the great “secret” to living our own lives on earth in a powerful way: As God the Father was in Jesus and did all those great works through Him, so God is in us and is willing to do great works through us. It is all His power doing the works and none of our own. Yet, we do now have to allow Him to do these things. We can choose to be passive about it and nothing will happen. But if we look to God, getting to know Him, looking to Him for leading, we will see great things happen. There is so much more to what God is willing to do in us than many of us have realized. If we actively seek Him and His ways, realizing that it is Him doing the works, we will see great miracles take place. This world needs great miracles right now, and God is willing to do these works through you.
Through Jesus death and resurrection, bringing a New Covenant with us, God brought us new life—eternal life. He transformed us into new creations, children of the Living God. He does the works in us as He did through God the Son, Jesus the Messiah. He is ready to work His great power in us. So now we can understand verse 12, a truth difficult to grasp without this God-inside-us understanding:
12:Truly, truly, I say to you, the one who believes on Me, the works that I do, he will do also, and greater works than these will he do, because I go to my Father.
We believe on Jesus the Messiah, God comes inside us, and through us, if we actively allow Him, believing Him to do it, He works great things through us as He did through Jesus. We do not have to believe that we can do things things—for we cannot. Rather, we simply believe that He can, that He will.
John 14:10-17 10: Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father in me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak of myself, but the Father who dwells in me, He does the work. 11: Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe me for the very works' sake. 12: Truly, truly, I say to you, the one who believes on Me, the works that I do, he will do also, and greater works than these will he do, because I go to my Father. 13: And whatever you ask in My name, that will I do that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14: If you ask any thing in My name, I will do it. 15: If you love Me, keep My commandments. 16: And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you forever, 17: Even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it doesn't see Him, neither knows Him. But you know him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

Philippians 4:13... I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
We cannot do all things without Christ. It's He who strengthens us, not ourselves. All we have to do is to believe.
Yes you're right about that. If He wants us to do something we can because He will give us the ability and isnt' going to tells us to and then leave us hanging out on a limb

I take it that the father is god not jesus and we are brethren to jesus brothers, and the father (not jesus) As God the Father was in Jesus and did all those great works through Him, so God is in us is in us all, IT SAYS GOD THE FATHER GOD IS IN US meanning the Father is GOD in us like he was in Jesus. This is big it means jesus is not the lord, is not the father, but a son like you and me. Why worship your brother, praise him fallow his path, admire the pinicle of MAN (the son of man) (not the son of the gods), well at least no more a sonthan you or I

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the LordJesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
There are so many verse that say that Jesus IS Lord. In fact in Romans 10:9 above that is how we are saved, is to confess He is LORD. And if Jesus is not God, not Deity, then how could he save us? He would be just like any other man, who can't save us. Jesus was the Word and in John is says He is God.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
14And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
A word of caution. I've noticed an interesting comment or two on Jesus' words in my original post (or perhaps on my words about them). So I want to make it clear that the Godhead is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Three persons but one God. Jesus is not saying that He Is the Father or that the Father Is Him. He is saying something that lines up perfectly with what we read in Hebrews 1:1-4:
1 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; 3 who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself[a] purged our[b] sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, 4 having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
The point of my post is to show how strongly the New Testament presents Jesus--God the Son, the Messiah--as shining forth a perfect representation of the nature of the Father. I believe that someone many, many Christians do not see this, even though the Scripture makes it very plain. Someone the Church has accepted a distorted image of God the Father. There are endless things about the Father we can learn and know and experience. But the New Testament shows us something about Him from the center of His heart: Love is above all. John 3 shows us this amazingly clearly, not leaving out the results of not beliving in Jesus:
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
(more on such things--audios and writings--in the link in my profile)
So I want to make it clear that the Godhead is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Three persons but one God. Jesus is not saying that He Is the Father or that the Father Is Him.
