Reps: 10 (power: 0) | | | Kindey Stones Hi there!
I have had kidney stones twice. The first time was during my first pregnancy 21 years ago...I passed the stone in the hospital...and again very recently with my 7th pregnancy. This time I spent almost a week in the hospital and finally had to have a surgical procedure to remove the stones. The pain of kidney stones is FAR worse than childbirth! I have 6 kids..working on my 7th...I know! Do you take a calcium supplement at all or drink a lot of milk? My stones, too were calcium in origin. This most recent time I was taking prescribed calcium supplements due to the pregnancy. Once I got the stones they took me right off the calcium! I have also been told not to drink milk, which I don't anyway.
Yes, drink a lot of fluids and try cranberry capsules...found in health food stores. Don't worry about the protein thing... Your type of stones have nothing to do with protein consumption.
Look up kidney stones on google.com. There are tons of sites full of information out there. Keep yourself informed and ask your Dr. a lot of questions! Best of luck to you and God Bless!

Reps: 34 (power: 0) | | I don't take any type of calcium supplement, and I don't drink milk. The only time I have milk is with cereal, and that is a rare thing. I will definitely have to find some of those cranberry capsules you were talking about. Do they help with passing them? Or the pain? Or do they help prevent them from forming after all of them have been passed?
I am not sure what kind of questions to ask the Dr... and I feel as if I am not getting enough information. The pain of kidney stones is FAR worse than childbirth!
Wow... that's great news! *lol* It does hurt a lot! But you know what? I had the most pain as it was moving around in my kidney, causing the blood in the urine. I was in so much pain that my dad took me to the doctor who then referred me to the hospital. Then they finally gave me some prescribed medicine, which was awesome to have since it took the pain away, and allowed me to sleep. I think this medicine has 5 different types of codine in it - Powerful stuff!!! Well, the pain went away after 2 days or 3 days, and on that day, I passed my first stone without any pain. It didn't hurt at all coming out. I have heard that it hurts a lot, and it was a fairly large stone. My doctor said that I may be tolerant to the pain of it coming out. I know I was drinking so much water, that I thought it didnt''hurt because of that reason. I hope all of the rest of them come out just as the last one did, because I cannot imagine having pain while urinating... I do still have the medicine they gave me... but I don't really like taking medicine - For this though, I will if it is more painful than last time. I have 7 to pass from my right kidney, and two larger ones to pass in my left kidney. And once they break them up with the lithotripsy, I am going to have to pass even more of them. Ahh!!!
But I do have to say that God has blessed me with life, so no worries!!! I know He is taking care of me, and that He resides in me!! I love God so much!!! |

Reps: 34 (power: 0) | | NT, thank you for your concern! I know God is taking care of me, and He will bring me through it. Honestly, when I am having the pains, I am closer to God than I ever am because I am in constant prayer and communion with God, praising and worshiping Him! So I take this as a way to help me focus on God and God alone! Sometimes we need things like this to help us get some time with Him and refocus our minds! | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | | | |
