The state of the economy mostly, which is a fear not without some justification. Our area has relied heavily on the auto industry and their suppliers for years, so we've definitely been feeling the heat, so to speak.

The most fearful things seem to be those coming out of the Middle East, though I do my best to keep from being surprised. We were warned that these things would happen; natural disasters, excessive sin, wars and rumors thereof. That means we need to figure out what it is we should be embracing, as there is an everlasting hope.

I should leave this alone, but your mention of the middle east and those who occupy it as something to ultimately fear does not sit well with me. I understand the hurt and discomfort that's come from 9/11, and I don't deny that extremism is dangerous, but it'd be silly to ignore that these attitudes are not exclusive to the middle east. The west has its own extremist individuals and groups, though a good number of them are or have become more 'low-key.' I don't doubt that this is due to our foundations and laws, which center themselves around individual human dignity and worth, not allowing for such extremism to grow and get to the point that it has there. I apologize if I've read more into your comment than was intended, but I find many folks who are ready to point their fingers at other people and places without first seeing and acknowledging that similar things go on in their own backyards. Extremism, no matter where it originates, is something to be concerned about.

Yes the latest commandment from our Media Overlords is to be Afraid of the Swine Flu.
Which I still don't understand ... When they describe the symptoms it sounds like every other flu so I'm still not sure why this one is considered such an issue.
