How would people feel about the possibility of a Untied States or Nations of Europe?
Personally, providing the states and nations are represented fairly and equally, meaning that each peoples and provinces, such as Cornwall, Wales, Brittany and so on, across Europe, could vote for representatives into an American Federal style system I would be very much in favour.
I see Europe as being the next world leader, using the EU blueprint to spread peace and prosperity across the world. Expanding as it goes, absorbing more and more nations and peoples into the whole, such as the North African/Mediterranean nations and pushing the Euro Zone further and further across the world, raising people out of poverty and forcing nations to abandon backward legal systems and adopt the EU standard. |

They tried once, and now we have the protoype with the Strasbourg parliament building - based on a painting of the tower of Babel.
No. |

I am a Swiss and I'm proud. The European Union can shove it.

You can keep your neutrality and shove it up your a...lps.
Seriously, who else is doing to launder our money?
Also, you make nice watches and Chocolate. And you kept the Von Trapp family safe. Your take on the German language is kind of wonky, though.

Reps: 476,108,258,995,050 (power: 0) | | | I highly doubt anything resembling a truly united Europe will emerge in our lifespan. Europe is simply too diverse and full of too much enmity for a stable union. No Pole will accept a German as leader over them and etc.
The fundamental problem with the current EU structure is that all of the major treaties were approved by Parliaments and not the people, since they are not interested in a structure beyond a free market/trade organization. Every "unifying" EU treaty, like Lisbon, has failed when put up to a national vote. | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | | | |
