Excuses were made or the media downplayed who rioted and burned buildings in Seattle. Liberal media never tied the organizers of that to the organizers of the "peace protesters' around Cindy Sheehan.
The LA riots, mayhem and murders were excused by Democratic House member Maxine Waters this way: ""If you call it a riot it sounds like it was just a bunch of crazy people who went out and did bad things for no reason. I maintain it was somewhat understandable, if not acceptable. So I call it a rebellion."
ACORN bused "activists" to the homes and neighborhoods of AIG executives and the media didn't attack ACORN. CODE PINK disrupts congressional hearings and the media gives CODE PINK a pass. "Activists" in California invaded Christian churches and the liberal media yawned or took the side of the "activists".
But let working Americans, those who are not members of a left wing union, a left wing "nonprofit" or who do not belong to a minority which votes overwhelmingly for Democrats peacefully assemble and petition their government for a redress of grievences and the snide comments, slanders and demeaning of those people never stops.

They would earn interest on their withholdings and government might better (especially local) appreciate the fustration people are feeling.

I'm pretty sure the revenues would go up. There is a penalty if you do that.
I'm pretty sure there is some sort of threshold, however I couldn't find out what it was... I've owed thousands of dollars and didn't have to pay any pentalties, so I'm not sure when that starts if it starts at all. I suspect taxes owed have to meet some sort of threshhold before the IRS becomes anoyed. I also found where the IRS can lock in your withholdings at a certain level if your not paying enough.. however I have no idea when that might kick in. I susect that for most people it wouldn't at all. I don't have any federal tax withheld from my military retirement check, but I make up for that by holding out a bit more from my regular retirement check. I try to keep the amount owed under 1K at tax time, but ussually owe more than I paid in. Maybe next year I'll claim a few extra exemptions on my W-4 and just stash the money in a bank account... see what happens.

Were you applying for a position in the Obama administration, say, as the Secretary of the Treasury? You know, the guy in charge of the IRS?

"Even as it stands, the Home Guard could only exist in a country where men feel themselves free. The totalitarian states can do great things, but there is one thing they cannot do: they cannot give the factory-worker a rifle and tell him to take it home and keep it in his bedroom. That rifle hanging on the wall of the working-class flat or labourer's cottage is the symbol of democracy. It is our job to see that it stays there."

"Police, at all times, should maintain a relationship with the public that gives reality to the historic tradition that the police are the public and the public are the police; the police being only members of the public who are paid to give full-time attention to duties which are incumbent upon every citizen in the interests of community welfare and existence."

Political appointee jobs are not challenging enough for me... all you have to do is decide which set of bureaucratic experts your going to trust to run the show for you and then stay out of the way. Your only real job is to stay grateful to the person who appointed you/got you appointed, take the hit if things go wrong, and possibly execute some agenda.
I'd also stick with the Department of State or Defense so I could justify all those trips to the Europe, Asia and the Middle East. (BTW Dubai has become quiet the tourist destination of late.)

I don't know when it kicks in, either, but a couple of years ago I had an employer screw up my withholding and I owed a couple of thousand dollars. The tax software I was using tried to get me to set up quarterly payments for the next tax year to avoid future penalties.

The only good I can see coming out of the "tea bag parties" is that it is very good for tea companies' sells, since it makes no difference whether you drink it or toss it, you are still buying it.
I have not heard of any of the people protesting who are actually having their taxes raised, i.e., those making more than $250,000 a year. It seems that it is the poor folks, comparably speaking, who are going to the tea bag parties.
So - the upshot is that some mainly white fat middle-class people are in effect tea bagging themselves in an attempt to protest what is NOT by any means happening to them. They have drank the GOP Kool-Aid and just can't get out of the rut of believing the clichés.
There are over 26 million small business in the US from 2004 numbers. The next census will make that number go much higher. In 2004 there were about 8 million with incomes higher than $250,000......they employed 19 million people give or take a few million. The rest of these business are not trying to stay under the magic number, they in fact are trying to grow.
Obama is a bright man, he can turn 20 million against 8 million and take us all for a ride to nowhere. Some of these workers have seen the light, it's called unemployment.
I am going at 6pm tomorrow to my tea party, it's a start and long overdue.

Obama's policies will increase the maximum tax on those making over a quarter of a million a year from 35 per cent to 39.5 per cent, which was the tax rate under Clinton - you know, when the economy was firing on all cylinders.
I am STILL not following your "reasoning". Neither are the majority of non-Kool-Aid drinkers.
If you continue to follow the GOP into the sea like a lemming you will need to grow gills to survive. Good luck with that.
The only good I can see coming out of the "tea bag parties" is that it is very good for tea companies' sells, since it makes no difference whether you drink it or toss it, you are still buying it.
So it's not grassroots or astroturfing. It's a marketing ploy!
