(IF acceptable to Staff, I'd like a link from General Theology to this thread and/or this thread moved to a sticky)
I'd appreciate knowing a bit about the Staff of this forum, both the "regulars" as indicated on the staff listings of CF, and those "on loan" appearing as "moderators" but not as Theology staff.
I think it would be good to know just a bit of personal stuff. And especially about their theology (and background, denominational affliliation - if any - any formal training they have in theology), thoughts about CF, goals for the Theology Forum. I admit it's mostly a curiosity thing, but also it's good to know the perspectives and experiences brought to our little community here and as they serve.
For example, I think I read somewhere that our Admin (I think currently, our only Admin) regards himself as a Protestant Fundamentalist in theology and has some Catholic seminary training (My memory may not be correct at either point). I'd LOVE to know more about that!
It would be good if this could be kept up-to-date as a sticky, so that as Staff come and go (and that seems to happen a lot these days at CF), these biographies could be added (or deleted). It probably should be a closed thread where only Staff may post, solely for the purpose of their bio and perspectives.
Would that be acceptable? Does Staff feel this would be good?
Just a thought.....
Pax!

I agree, this is a really good idea. Perhaps we can further bridge the gap that seems to divide Staff and Members.
Well..come August this will be my third year on CF. I jumped right in to the General Theology and Christian Philosophy and Ethics debates as a little 14 year old. Those were good times. I've been on Staff about half of that time, and all of my Staff tenure has been here in Theology. I've worked in a few other Forum Categories at the same time as Theo, but this has always been my CF home. I have a CF T-Shirt that I wear all the time. It's good advertisement; people ask me about it sometimes.
So I was born in Florida, have lived in Milwaukee most of my life though. I was Baptized into a name-only Catholic family. My parents looked into the local Catholic school here in Milwaukee, but the tuition was outrageous, so they opted for the Lutheran church two blocks down the road as they offered free tuition to their members. By the grace of God the Holy Spirit led my parents to faith through the instructional classes they were required to take to become members, thus leading to my salvation as well.
I'm WELS Lutheran, if that's of any significance. I've been a part of the WELS schooling system since pre-school, and I am now in my Senior year at a WELS High School (Wisconsin Lutheran. 1st time State Basketball Champs this year. ). That's part of the reason for my interest in the study of Theology, and also in part because of my own desire to deepen my relationship with our Father. I also think that my experiences here at CF have contributed to my Theological views somewhat.
I have plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee next year. I've been telling everyone that I have no idea what I want to study, but just recently I have been leaning towards a possible Political Science Major. I have a passion for politics as well.
I have a deep passion for a variety of things, including the previously mentioned Theology and politics, writing, and music. (I'm first chair trombone, play piano, and am teaching myself to play the organ at church.) I'm into genealogical research, and am and avid fan of The Legend of Zelda video game series.
Well, I don't know if there's much more of interest to share. Graduation is May 31st. If you're in town . .

As the newest member, let me jump right in. I am a bit sleepy, so this may require some editing later.
I was raised in a home which, until I was 7, never attended church. At that time, my mom felt led to return to church, although my dad didn't. My dad is still lost. So I started attending a non-denominational church which was led by a former member of the Church of the Nazarene. I don't know if that had anything to do with anything, because I never really paid all that much attention. I went because my mom told me I had to go. I didn't mind, since I had a lot of friend there.
Anyway, by the time I turned 17, I became disgruntled with the whole church thing. I was way too interested in drinking and girls. So I quit going except for when I had a girlfriend who went to a Baptist church. I went with her family for a bit.
The next 10 years were pretty much a life of debauchery, from a spiritual standpoint. I spent 4 years in the Marine Corps, various jobs afterwards, 1 failed marriage, and one affair with a married woman. I was drunk just about every day, smoked 2 packs of cigarettes a day, and cussed like a, well, like a Marine.
Then in March of 96, a very good friend of mine from the Corps was killed in a training flight. He left behind a wife and two kids. He had a good life, from the worlds POV anyway. And here I was, a wretch in every sense of the word. It got me thinking about life, death , my life, and what I wanted to do. This is the event that God used to change my life, and in April of that year, I got on my knees in my room and repented and accepted the gift of salvation.
Since then, I have remarried (we met online, but that's another story), I attend a So. Baptist church, and right now I am a long haul trucker. I am teaching Senior Adult Sunday School next month, at the pastor's request. I have taught youth Sunday school, been a youth group leader, and for a little over a year, preached in my former church while a search was on for a new pastor.
As far as theology, I am Reformed, as whomever reads this probably already knows. I post primarily in Soteriolgy, but venture sometimes into GT and CP and E. I volunteered for Mod after Hentenza did the 'chime in' thread to cool us down. He mentioned that there were a shortage of mods, and since I have the time during the week, I figured I could help out.
That's it for now. Feel free to ask any questions, or PM me with any concerns.

As God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly. Closing the gap between the God I want and the God who is. The same sun that melts the ice hardens the clay. Puritan saying I am doing better than I deserve. God is always bigger than our misunderstandings of Him.
Who is this guy?
I'm a single (divorced 15 years) Christian man, a student of God's word and a "Spurgeonite," who puts one foot in front of the other along the path the Lord has prepared for me. The Lord began to draw me to the Gospel while I was incarcerated, serving a sentence for O.W.I. I read a prison ministries pamphlet, then the Bible completely. I attended the Bible studies offered in the prison ministry from various congregations. After completing my debt to society, I searched for a church for a number of years. I eventually began to attend a Baptist church & serve in the choir. I was quickened by our Lord 3 years later.
I enjoy playing classical music (viola & violin), listening to a wide variety of musical genres and flower gardening. I like to use smiley's in posts. Sometimes one smiley can say more than 10 paragraphs.
My theology: Calvinistic, Baptist, covenental & amilleniel.
There are no 'reformed' Baptist churches in my neck of the woods so I assemble with General Baptists (although I am a 'Particular Baptist'). I have been 'homeschooled' in my theological training, being led to the doctrines of grace over the last couple of years by prayerfully studying Scripture, Strong's Greek and Hebrew Dictionary, Hebrew/Greek to English interlinears. I continue in my learning by seeking out the thoughts and writings of modern teachers (White, Sproul, Packer, Piper, Carson etc.) as well as the writings of Spurgeon, Calvin, Gill, Owen, Edwards, etc.
