First menstrual cycle since starting birth control...

So i was dx last month with PCOS, I was put on Yazmin for hormones. I am now having my first period since then and it is killing me. I have never had such a painful period. Is this normal? Am i finally just shedding all the unneeded material that i previously was unable to because of was not ovulating? Has anyone had this before? I have never had cramps like this and I dont know if its normal or if the pill is bad for me.

...so this is your first AF being on the pill? I thought your periods weer suppose to be lighter being on the pill. If that is the case I might give a call in to your Dr.
