That's a great question. We all deal with anxious thoughts.
I reassure myself with the Word. Whatever is my need, I find the answer in Jesus, and in the Living Word. Then I go to work on getting that Word in my heart by saying it, writing it, praying it, anything that gets it down in there to the point where it easily comes out, without my trying to say it. Now it is a part of me.
Also, I talk back to those doubts that come to my mind. I flat out say to it, "Oh no, nuh uh." I answer it with, "It is written......."
Either a thought that comes to us is true, or it's not. We must discern which it is before we can deal with it.
I make sure what I am believing for is truly in the Word. Then I can see it as mine. Seeing it is important. If you are bound to a wheelchair, believing to receive the ability to walk, see your self walking. Picture yourself receiving the healing and standing up. See how happy you are? Now you take a step forward, and tears begin to run down your face. Another step, and all you can do is worship Him.
See yourself receiving the promise.

as Cindy has said first I make sure it is a promise from God, from His Word to us.
then I would apply Philippians 4:6-7, and continually Thank and praise God, as I wait upon the Lord.
Be anxious for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known unto God. and the peace of God which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
there will be a peace that comes, in the request with thanksgiving.
an recent example, myself, and a couple decons went to the emergency room to pray for a brother, after a mens prayer meeting. we did not request a small thing, we requested a miracle, in faith, after going home and giving thanksgiving, a great rejoicing and peace came to my spirit, my spirit just jumped and proclaimed, Glory to God, thank you Jesus!!! that was my peace, God has received our prayer request. http://www.christianforums.com/showp...postcount=1926
hope that helps

Hey Jeff,
Welcome to the forum.
As for your question.
When living by faith there is one issue that must be settled to get past being anxious or having cares about a situation. We know that God tells us to cast our cares, anxieties over on Him.
However if we do not understand the Integrity of God we will not have faith to do so.
Consider this statement.
Either God lies, or He tells the truth.
If He lies we can forget it.
If He tells the truth then we must realize that once we can believe he means what he says, and will back it up, and that he will back it up for us, we can only then enter into the rest of faith which is Living by faith without being anxious.
The Integrity of God simply means that God tells the truth.
If you find yourself being anxious then study, meditate on scriptures that speak and tell of God's truthfulness, faithfulness(Rom 4, about Abraham) as well as that he loves you just as much as Jesus(JN 17) and that He is not a respecter of persons.
Stay with it until you get the revelation. |

Firstly, being able to walk free from worry and anxiety is supernatural. If anyone could do it (including non christians), then we would not need God, His Word or His Spirit to walk free from worry and anxiety
Peace is a product of faith, it comes when we have confidence in the Word. It is one of the indicators that a person has stepped into faith. It is not just a worked up quality. Walking free from anxiety is not just simply the result of trying to work yourself up to get rid of worries., it is the result of God's peace filling you - peace that comes from within, from the heart, not just the head Philippians 4:6-8 :6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; :7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. :8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy--meditate on these things.
Here we see the 'Peace of God' guarding your mind and heart. It is not just a natural peace that you work up or fabricate to try to 'pretend to be free from anxiety' it is not a front of being worry free - it is a peace that arises from within - from the spirit
Many try to work up a worry free life from their flesh or their minds.
This kind of peace is the product of spendign time in the Word, developing confidence in God through time with Him in prayer and time in His Word. When a peson's heart is open to God and His Word and the Word fills you, it produces faith and PEACE is a part of that. Colossians 3:15-16 :15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. :16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
You have to LET the Word dwell in you RICHLY (that is not just reading an occasional promise) and LET the peace of God rule in your heart.
God is not pushy - He will let you live by your mind and intellect if you choose. You have to allow His peace to fill you.
His presence brings peace - so when you spend time in His presence, His peace fills you. When you spend time in His Word, Peace fills you
Also, once you have His peace, you MAINTAIN it by keeping your attention focused on Him and His Word. If you allow yourself to focus back onto the problems, the anxiety will arise again.
Peace is MAINTAINED by keeping your focus on Him. Isaiah 26:3 :3 You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You
Notice - KEEP HIM IN perfect peace. It means the person is already there - but this verse teaches how to stay there! - by keeping your mind on Him. this is consistent with the verse quoted higher up - Philippians 4:8 - which shows that we need to guard our thoughts once the peace of God fills us.
If we allow our minds to focus oback on the problems, we lose the peace and anxiety arises again.
Also notice from Isaiah 26:3 - 'becasue He trusts in You'... this is part of faith. Faith trusts.
When you trust a person, you can have confidence that they will do as they say. When God says He will come through and you trust Him, you will not sit there panicked and wondering IF you are going to come through. In that instance, anxiety is the sign of lack of trust in Him.
I hope this helps... it is not meant to be 'THE' answer, just to add some extra thoughts to the great comments already made
God Bless

whenever you have anxiety the trick is to identify the thought that made you anxious, realize that the thought came to you from satan who is a deceiver and a liar who is incapable of telling the truth, and then take control of that thought by repudiating it with scriptures just like Jesus did.
remember you can't argue intellectually with satan because he lies, but you can defeat him every time by resisting him with the truth and power of God's word.
satan doesn't have any new tricks--he uses the same old ones every time.
anxiety is caused by doubt, so in the example you used, satan would try to get you to doubt that God ment what He said and that He would keep His word.
satan tried the same exact trick on Eve by twisting the words of God, and he also tried the same exact trick on Jesus. Jesus resisted satan with God's word every time during that temptation, and satan left.
the power that is in God's word will work for every Christian just the same way that it worked for Jesus if we will use it.

But anyway ,I have a question, How do you beleive God in faith without being anxious for the thing you are beleiving for? Jesus came against the devil with scriptures concerning the situation He faced and the enemy has to flee when we do that same thing. God cannot lie. But remember the devil is a liar so when He whispers doubt and why you should be anxious, just believe the opposite of what he says, the trutht is not in him. Cast down imaginations in the name of Jesus Jesus said be anxious for nothing. I remind myself that God can do anything and nothing is too hard for Him. Thats keeping my mind on His ability and desire to bless us, and not on the problem. I rememeber the victories He has given me in the past and how He always came through no matter how bad it seemed at the time | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | | | |
