advice on temptations

Hi there,
I'm 22 and as you can expect there are many temptations around for us young adults like drugs, alcohol, smoking etc. I have just stopped smoking, into my 4th day now and by praying it is continuing with hardly any problems.

The problem I have though is the fact that I work in a pub part-time. Would anyone disagree with working in a pub? I kno that I'm technically helping people to get drunk, but in today's economic climate, its the only job I can get whilst I study.

Can anyone give me advice on this and what to do?

That is really hard, because it is definitely a huge temptation with all the smoking that goes on in a bar. The only suggestion I would have for you is keep your options open and keep looking for a safer environment to work part time in.

I know only being a Christian myself for just over a week that I am going to have to give up my past like going out and drinking. It will be hard, but the good thing is my old friends have respected my new faith and they said they will not overstep my boundaries.

I got my first job at a restaurant as the bar busser. Well, most of the time I was the bar busser, anyway, after some time as a busser I had hit that point where the notion of "Oh my gosh! I work in a bar!" just didn't matter anymore.

Now me personally, I say if you're going to drink alcohol do so in moderation. Have a little if you wish, but know your limit and when you start getting near it, than stop.
The problem, is that I've seen a lot of people who do not know their limits. Or if they do then they go past their limit anyway. Needless to say we've had a few vomiters here and there and it just creates nothing but a mess. It was very trashy seeing some people, maybe one or two in my year and a half working there, who were the definition of a trashed drunk.

Remember those sorts that do not know their limit. Remember the stupid stuff you may have seen them say or do whilst trash drunk. Remember them missing the bathroom from the excessive alcohol. Remember all that ugliness and trashiness and just remind yourself, "That is not me". That is not how Christ was and as a Christian I am to be like Christ. Christ never got drunk from alcohol, thus I should avoid it.

Remember the trash and crap you may see from people who drink in excess and just imagine yourself in those shoes.
