Interaction would flow somewhat better in some discussions and post length would be more condensed & more easily readable without having to quote the vs.

IF we are offended by something, we CHOSE to be offended by it...
But I think that OFTEN, people confuse discussion with fighting. Disagreeing is not personal, it is not an attack, it is not disrespectful or flaming, it is not offensive per se. It ONLY means, "I disagree." Nothing more. Nothing less. It suggests NO emotional response whatsoever.

Can there be a sticky about discrimination and how to spot it? For example, a thread that says discrimination against any group of Christians is not permitted and list some examples of discrimination, such as listing the errors and inventions of a church, giving arguments about how to convince some believers to stop believing what they do about the Eucharist, etc. Obviously there is a fine line between argument and discrimination, so perhaps that could be stated in the sticky?
Also, could there be a sticky listing various fallacies that some people use? Users tend to use fallacies without knowing it. I think such a sticky could help prevent trolling, bashing, and illogical discussions, as well as promote understanding and charity. A website that lists some fallacies is http://www.nizkor.org/features/fallacies/ |
