One issue I would like to see addressed is what is truly divisive between the RCC and the OC. There does not seem to be a consensus on this. I'm not sure this could be accomplished in a Council since it would necessarily exclude direct involvement with the West, but it would seem, if we truly hope for the possibility of reconciliation with Rome, that we should have a united vision of 1) what is truly divisive, 2) what is merely a difference in perspective. I guess I am just coming to the conclusion (and I could be wrong) that as it stands, even if tomorrow Rome denounced Papal Infallibility and Universal Jurisdiction, it wouldn't be enough. I mean, if we all made our own lists of what we think needs to change on Rome's side, I think we would get lists as small as two items and others reaching dozens.
What kind of dialogue can we have if Rome doesn't even know what we expect from them?
Perhaps I am viewing this all wrong.
Anyway, back to the thread. I really like what you said about ecumenism.
Perhaps none of it is necessary like the issues of the first ECs, but some things could be made clearer.
Also, I would love for the Church to use a united voice regarding issues of contraception and other social issues of today.
