If you mix wine and water, half and half is no longer wine or water if you mix FAITH WITH LAW, there is not law, nor is faith, is nothing if a person does good things and bad, is not neither good nor bad, is nothing, it's hesitant, the old fasting was physical purification , and remains, mercy, charity and solidarity, is fasting to purifies the soul.
like him, the law requires punishment if not met, but there is trick to circumvent the law, who acting on faith, not kills. not stolen. sure of itself, does not lie, does not need a law, it is better, it's perfect, the person does not circumvent to help the most needy, even at the expense of their own interests.
Christ went about doing good in all respects, teaching and treating patients of all kinds, even at the expense of his own life, knowing that even for the sake of humanity would be sacrificed on the cross as a thief,
Most important is the health of the soul, the meat is good for nothing, aging and die, but the soul will live forever, which is not purified his soul in this world, purified in hell, is much more painful than a Terrestrial purification
MARK 2
18 12 The disciples of John and of the Pharisees were accustomed to fast. People came to him and objected, "Why do the disciples of John and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not fast?" 19 Jesus answered them, "Can the wedding guests fast 13 while the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them they cannot fast. 20 But the days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast on that day.
Jesus as a man, gave us a spiritual food that makes us grow in what is good, the Jewish people is now fasting because the bridegroom (Jesus) it was snatched , and also many "Christians" were not interested on the word of God, preferring to follow customs and traditions of men, is like Mix half water and half wine, are not Christians, they are nothing.
21 No one sews a piece of unshrunken cloth on an old cloak. If he does, its fullness pulls away, the new from the old, and the tear gets worse. 22 Likewise, no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the skins are ruined. Rather, new wine is poured into fresh wineskins."
To be a true Christian, we must abandon the old, (the law of Moses) and switch to the new (FAITH), otherwise it would be like patching a old clothing with a new genre or put new wine in old odres all would be lost.
It is complicated to present the absolutes such as 'not to mix', though it makes perfect sense of what you have plainly demonstrated. Remember though, that the only real absolute is just in the plain word of "love". This isn't so complicated.
The absolute called "love" is able to forgive, where the spiritual logic of "not to mix" is hard to even comply with or to even know that you are complying to. We only know in part except for this one thing; which is "we know the value of love, through Jesus and our Father in Heaven." God is written into our hearts through this word. Sin, no matter how it is, is forgiven through this word, his word to us through Jesus Christ, if we believe in him and he knows us as his own.
Faith is a beautiful word, but it is trumped by what that faith is in, "the Word of God, Jesus Christ, God's love for us." It is real if it is found honest. Be tellers of the truth and be honest with all and with our Father in Heaven, always.

Perhaps you could succinctly define what you mean when you use the words "faith" and "law." All too often, in these types of discussions, these words are thrown about as if everyone agrees as to their meaning, and this creates unnecessary confusion.
