Sunspot activity continues to be very low to nothing at all. According to some sites that I have read, it appears that we my have gone into a second solar minimum after a recent, brief upturn in activity.
Latest image of the blank sun.
The latest prediction as of March 2009 indicates that sunspot activity will soon start to increase very shortly, but we have heard this before. Some predictions from over a year ago anticipated a solar minimum during March of 2008.
By the way, I am on vacation this week. Mark Paquette is filling in for me and will be handling most of the posts and comments. |

Soon, as in: not yet.

That's weather, not climate. Not to mention this is supposed to be about global temperature trends, not the view out your window. Originally Posted by Greatcloud It would seem that cosmic theory is just making clouds all over the Pacific NW.
This doesn't even make any sense. Originally Posted by Greatcloud

If this were true, then why do you keep claiming that you can predict future climate?

It's not certain, of course, but it's beginning to seem likely.
I'd also like to point out that even if the solar irradiance were decreasing, as you seem to believe, we wouldn't feel the effects yet regardless: it takes about ten years for the Earth's temperature to catch up to changes in solar irradiance.
