| The Apostolic Church of Nigeria is the largest of the Pentecostal churches that have taken the name "Apostolic", to affirm their desire to emmulate the early church. For them, this means an emphasis on preaching the Gospel, and on the Gifts of The Holy Spirit.
"Apostolic Churches", as used on this forum, (and in many other places) means churches that are in historic Apostolic Succession; that is, churches served by bishops who can trace their consecration back, laying on of hands by laying on of hands, to the Apostles of our Lord, and God, and Savior, Jesus Christ. In both cases, the sincere desire is to be true to the Church founded by our Lord, in faith and practice. We differ as to how this is to be done, and what it looks like, for many historical reasons. This difference can be good for all of us, if we truly listen to each other, and to our Lord. Many Apostolic Christians in the second sense, including myself, are Charismatic, though not all. May God continue to bless you, and your church. Michael
