Yeah that makes a lot of sense! |

Maybe they were a Republican, got disenfranchised by Dubya and wanted to see change, but still leans to the right. Maybe they just put in a Republican icon because that's what they voted last time. Maybe they are a very moderate fiscal Republican who disagrees with the war/opposition to same-sex marriage/lack of science support and is voting based on social issues. Maybe they are a black Republican who wanted to see a black man in office.
Not saying that's the case for this specific poster, but it's not implausible that a Republican would want Obama to be president. I bet there are plenty of Republicans who voted for him.

Reps: 39,136,237 (power: 39,140) | | | I think we'll have one once a proper candidate's in place and stuff. I mean, we have had female Supreme Court Judges and Governor Generals and we have Queen Elizabeth, so I think we have much more narrowed the gender gap than America, so I don't see why ethnicity would not also come.
I know they have been Caucasian, but if you think about it, we have had native french-speaking people such as Jean Cretien, this isn't something I have seen in the United States. Barack Obama may surpass the skin barrier, but I don't think he has surpassed a language barrier.
One thing about northern countries like Canada is since there is less daylight and we are indoors longer due to cold, we get less sun exposure in some cases (stuff like this is an issue for politicians, who when not campaigning or giving a speech/event are probably indoors doing a lot of paperwork).
It is harder for darker-skinned people to get by without sun because they need more of it to make D-vitamin, I think if we popularized supplements with this like cod liver oil that the darker complexioned politicians here would feel more chipper and people would respond to them better in campaigns.
Even if they haven't come to the head (prime minister) at this point, I think we see plenty of minority politicians who are succeeding. I know one I have met in my area seems to be of middle eastern descent and he is a good person with a lot of favouring for health care. |

Reps: 36,303,379 (power: 0) | | Race is meaningless, I, and most other people vote for the issues, only a racist base's their vote on such a trivial matter.
Why should Canada elect someone like Obama? Don't we have enough corupt, lying politicians of our own, of ALL races?
This election has showcased the extreme racism of the left, playing the race card at every turn. It has/is been very disgusting.
Only the misogynist, race-mongers make an issue of sex/race when it comes to a candidates worth.
To make a remark that "Bush Republicans in the south are all inherently racist" is the opinion of a extremly ig'nurt, partisan hack, with no knowledge of the history of either of the main American parties. |

Reps: 9,655,631,516 (power: 9,655,640) | | | I am curious how Canada is. I am considering about going there when we have kids. Are there laws that silence the Christians? Are there laws in promoting sexuality in schools where parents don't have the right to say no? I am curious how much free do Christians have over there in Canada.
Ever since Obama has been president, he is pushing new laws to pass that will not look good for Christians. Pastors and churches will not be allowed to speak against sin. There will be no more freedom of speech or freedom of religion. I am afraid of the persecution that may be starting for some has already started. Honestly I am afraid by the way things are going, Christianity might be illegal if things don't change. Christians schools may be force to teach that Jesus is not the only way. Not sure how the outcome is, but new laws are being pushed that these will be in affect.
Please tell me how Canada is like? I am also thinking about Australia or Hong Kong.

There are no laws silencing Christians (at least, no laws that silence them specifically). And as far as I know, sex-ed in most places has the option of the parents keeping their kids out of it. Other than that, Christians are as free as everyone else. The only thing is, in general, people are not as adamant about expressing their beliefs. You're free to do what you want, but don't expect many people to care much about it either way.

Well since Harper is reforming the way seats work in the house . that actually may be a distinct possibility in the near future .

And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. (1 John 4:16-18) |

Hahaha... we had a female prime minister years ago and our governor general is black (happened before Obama)... the US is such an ass-backwards country in terms of talking about equality vs. actually instituting it that it's not even funny. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | | | |
