Our Pastor speaks out against this practice about every other month.
You see it often in older folks. The reason is that it was very common practice
before VaticanII when it was a belief that if you arrived at Mass before the readings and stayed until after Holy Communion, you had attended Mass.
This teaching went away (or should have) after better teachings and understanding after Vatican II.
I am seeing many Catholics who are still rebelling against the teachings of VII.
A couple weeks have passed since I initially posted this and asked all of you to join me in Communions of reparation. I have been doing this myself, offering up every Holy Communion that I have received since then in reparation for all the offenses against the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Then yesterday, something happened which really gave me a clearer understanding of why our Lord had requested me to do this.
I went to mass in the morning, (at a different church than my own parish), I did this because I happened to be in another town early in the morning. Anyway, during the mass I happened to notice a woman in the pew in front of me who had long (dyed) blond hair which extended down to her waist. The reason that this caught my attention was that this woman's face (which was very old in appearance) did not fit the kind of hairstyle that she had. (I am only mentioning this because most elderly women that I see usually wear their hair in a shorter style). I thought that this was a bit odd.
At Communion time, I was walking up the aisle behind this same woman. After both of us received our Lord in Holy Communion, I was still walking behind her. As this woman came to her aisle (where she was supposed to turn in), she instead continued straight towards the exit of the church. Just then the Lord spoke this word to me in a very powerful manner, "Witch".
This word surprised and shocked me when the realization suddenly hit me like a ton of bricks of what intentions this woman had regarding our Lord in the Holy Eucharist. I immediately went back to my pew and began to pray for this woman and also offered up this Communion in reparation to our Lord specifically for what evil intentions this woman had in her heart regarding our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament.
Afterwards, I began thinking of how often I see this practice occurring, (of people leaving the church immediately after receiving Holy Communion). I am sure that in most instances that people have legitimate reasons for doing this, but now I realize that there are probably a small percentage of people who do this with evil intentions for our Lord.
I thank the Lord for opening my eyes to the reality of this occurrence. What can we do to prevent this from occurring, (besides praying for these people?)
wow...that's actually shocking (about the woman)..
I'm glad that at my parish, most (around 95% I think) people stay after Communion, and some stay in the church after Mass to pray before the Blessed Sacrament I'm so thankful that God lead me to this parish because it's one of the best I've visited.

I was shocked too when the Lord spoke that word to me. It made me aware that this type of practice is unfortunately a reality. It is closer to home than we think. Now I understand why the Lord has asked me to offer up Communions of reparation.
Here's another reason to offer up Communions of reparation:
Minnesota professor endorses YouTube videos of Eucharistic desecrations
St. Paul, Oct 1, 2008 / 12:49 am (CNA).- Paul Zachary Myers, a science blogger and biology professor at the University of Minnesota at Morris who posted on his blog what he claimed was a desecrated Eucharistic Host, has now promoted the YouTube videos of a person also purporting to show other such desecrations.
In July Myers wrote on his blog Pharyngula that he pierced a Host with a rusty nail and then threw it in the trash alongside coffee grounds, banana peels, and pages torn respectively from the Koran and a book by the atheist polemicist Richard Dawkins. He posted photos apparently corroborating his claims.
He said he did such acts in response to the case of a Florida university student who publicly removed a Host from a Catholic Mass held on campus and did not return it for a week.
In a September 29 post on Pharyngula, Myers promoted the videos of a YouTube poster called “FSMDude.”
“FSMDude” has posted several videos purporting to show various acts of Eucharistic desecration. In one video, a Host is flushed down the toilet. In other videos, Hosts are fed to ducks or other animals, put in a blender, or shot with a nail gun.
Myers’ post references a commentary on the Catholic site HeadlineBistro.com discussing the YouTube videos.
Noting that the Catholic site does not provide links fearing to boost the popularity of the activity, Myers said: “Here you go,” directing his readers to “FSMDude’s” YouTube page.
According to the blog ranking site Technorati.com, Pharyngula is ranked 94th in overall popularity as of Tuesday afternoon.
“Gosh, maybe more people will be publicly committing heresy now!” Myers sneered, confusing heresy with sacrilege.
“Get over it,” Myers told outraged Catholics. “As long as people aren't disrupting your services or pilfering chalices, there has been no interference with your religious freedom, and no harm done.”
Responding to reports that FSMDude cited Myers’ original act as inspiration, Myers said: “This is great! Everyone should join in! It makes me so pleased to see growing, vocal opposition to the fundamental absurdity of religion, do keep it up.”
Thomas Serafin, president of the International Crusade for Holy Relics, called for YouTube to pull the videos.
“YouTube has to be held accountable and stopped,” Serafin told HeadlineBistro.com. “If Catholics don’t take a stand right now, they can expect such outrages to continue.”
“The internet is, in many ways, a new world, and it is our duty to evangelize this world, but we have to speak up and be heard to do that.”
The ladies at my church use this book during the first Friday Adoration:
It's a very good book, and order some new copies for them because the ones they had were getting rather tattery. Of course, I kept one for myself. It's $3.00 on amazon.com, or you might try the Sisters of St. Paul (Pauline's) bookstore.

Medjugorje Message of November 25, 2008
Dear children! Also today I call you, in this time of grace, to pray for little Jesus to be born in your heart. May He, who is peace itself, give peace to the entire world through you. Therefore, little children, pray without ceasing for this turbulent world without hope, so that you may become witnesses of peace for all. May hope begin to flow through your hearts as a river of grace. Thank you for having responded to my call.

Thank you for this information and thank you for your prayers of reparation. I think that I've seen this book before; I'll have to pick up a copy somewhere.
Communion of reparation is really tied to the Sacred Heart devotion.. IMO..
it's basically consoling Jesus' Heart for all the ways He is hurt by ours sins, ingratitude, lack of love, etc. the article helped me understand it better.
hope that helps..
