Again, why get personal? This is a thread about Obama, isn't it? Is it so strange that I would be expressing my opinion about Obama in a thread about Obama?

I really don't think Obama is the anti-Christ. He's just another politician.

I can't help but suspect that an awful lot of the "Obama is the anti-Christ" theorising going around is a thinly veiled excuse for racism. I mean, we've had Democrat presidents before, we've had relatively unknown people become president before, and God knows we've had some really really bad presidents before, but I've never seen anyone claiming that Dubya, Clinton, Kennedy or Nixon were the anti-Christ, no matter what their excesses or messes were. The only difference I can see between Obama and any of the others is his skin colour.

So, if you want to criticise the guy, be my guest. I'll be criticising him right alongside you based on the issues. But lets not try to hype ourselves into a religious frenzy over the guy for no better reason than his skin colour, huh? It makes us all look bad.

Well, I would agree with you if it is truly his skin color people are worried about.

There's all kinds of reports about different people being the anti-christ....Prince Charles, Tony Blair, Javier Solana...mainly because they come out of the EU...(revived Roman empire).

I don't know if Obama is the anti-christ or not but the level of worship/faith/hope put in this guy on a world-wide scale and all the messianic references to him as well as his arrogance/narcissism put him near the top of the short list of guesses.

Even if Obama turned around tommorrow and said "fine, ya got me, I'm a Muslim", that still wouldn't make him the anti-Christ. There are a great many Muslims in the world, they can't ALL be the beast of Revelation.

I'll also point out that, despite what many people seem to think, merely being a Muslim does not, by itself, render one inelligible for the Presidency of the USA.

Unless they believed in enforcing sihra law (or however you spell that)

I wouldn't want a christian in the presidency that tried to form a theocracy either.

If arrogance and narcissism were all it took to be considered to be in the running for the Anti-Christ, there are one or two posters on this very forum I could see as being right up there!

Also added to the list of suspected Anti-Christs... Mikhael Gorbachev, Saddam Hussein, the Ayatollah Khomeni and Pauline Hanson.

Oh, and here's a fun website...

Know Your Antichrist Candidates: King Juan Carlos I Armageddon Cocktail Hour

Seriously, so many people have been put forward as "absolutely definately gunna be the Anti-Christ, no really I'm serious this time!" (and quite often, the same "prophet" has revised their predictions and updated the person who is definately the antiChrist when it becomes apparent the last candidate wasn't it, e.g. Gorbachev becomes Khomeni becomes Saddam Hussein becomes Bin Laden as the Anti-Christ in the same "prophetic" book, changed in each subsequent eddition as the previous incumbent becomes irrelevant) that I simply can't take ANY claim about a person being ZOMG! the ANTICHRIST! seriously. Every claim of identifying the AntiChrist uses the same semi religious, vaguely worded, highly subjective interpretative language to make their claim about who is the Beasdt THIS week, and, without exception, every one of them has been shown false.

When an actual world leader leads a massive field Army to a set piece battle at Meggido, or shows up with 7 heads and all those horns and so on, well, then I'll be more persuaded. But so far all the claims about anyone being the anti-christ seem to be exclusively post hoc justifications for why someone doesn't like someone else.

No, but at the very least he's a muslim sympathizer/supporter.

In less than 90 days, he's:

1. dropped charges on muslim in USS Cole bombing
2. first call to a foreign leader was Palestinian leader.
3. first news interview was to Al Arabia
4. closing Git-mo
5. he's got some kind of personal problem with Pakistan
6. wants to sit down with Iran
7. warning Israel to concede Jerusalem
8. bowing to muslim king
9. crediting Islam for shaping America

He's admitted:
1. His father was a muslim
2. His step-father was a muslim with Hindu leanings who influenced him more than anyone else.
3. he thinks the muslim call to prayers is the "prettiest sound on earth at sunset"
4. he took Koran study classes in Indonesia and can recite them in perfect Arabic
5. he's mocked the Bible and Christianity.

I don't think he practices Islam now. I think he's a very confused person where God is concerned.

He has shown a tendency toward hinduism with the Hindu god in his pocket, his Namaste greeting on Leno, his signing of the first stimulous package in Denver with the Namaste company.

Technically, I don't know that being a Muslim who wanted to enforce Shari'a law would render one inelligible either. I mean, Dubya is well known for having made policy based purely on his personal religious convictions, so why shouldn't a Muslim President be able to?

Don't get me wrong, I think a fundamentalist President of ANY ilk is a bad idea, but I don't believe there is any constitutional reason to consider such a person inelligible for the office.

Minor point, not all Muslims want Shari'a law imposed on people against their will, or even want it for their own communities.
