I have a theory that praying the prayer of faith and not getting an answer diminishes your faith, so it's better to *not pray* when you or the other person has no faith.
Pray for them after this manner:
17That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you
the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
18
The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what
the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
19And what is the
exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
20Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
21
Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
22And
hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
23Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
-Ephesians 1:17-23
This is a prayer for
revelation in the knowledge of Him. It is through the
knowledge of Him that we receive faith to
partake of the divine nature:
2Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3According as his divine power
hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness,
through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4Whereby are given unto us
exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be
partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
-2 Peter 1:2-4
It is by receivng
revelation in the knowledge of Him that we receive
faith. We all know that faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. But hearing is not enough, we also have to have it
revealed to us.
Only the Holy Spirit can give revelation.
7But
we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the
hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
8Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
9But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man,
the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
10But
God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
11For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
12Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that
we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
-1 Corinthians 2:7-12
As Jesus also said:
13Howbeit when he, the
Spirit of truth, is come, he will
guide you into
all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
14He shall glorify me: for
he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
15
All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that
he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
-John 16:13-15
