So take your pick Michie.
Makes you want to pray alot. What would be the reason for wanting to get something which is highly doubtful as to its authenticity, especially since the woman claims to be able to tell us who is in hell, purgatory or heaven. This should raise red flags for anyone. |

I prayed for guidance on how to answer...detractions and lies.
I will just say this...
Maria did not know nor was she told who went to hell.
When given a list of names she only could find out how many Masses they needed to be released...
On approval of the Lord letting her know anything thru the souls.
She wasnt allowed to be too curious.
Furthermore, she could guess who went to Heaven if Masses were no longer needed.
The Poor Souls - as she called them in the discussions - came to her asking for Masses and prayers.
Maria was poor and asked for nothing. She didnt ask for souls to come to her. AND When she was young she made a vow to Mary [Totus tutus sort of] where Mary could use her prayers for whoever needed them.
She was unable to become a nun because of her frail health. SO she remained unmarried and was a devout Catholic. She attended daily Masses for the souls in purgatory.
Her priest helped her in this situation and she counseled with him frequently and did not do anything that was disobedient. He had to explain alot to her.
Scoffers taped her, some listened to her by peeping in her windows.
The town she lived in in Austria trusted her because the souls would tell her things only the family would absolutely know.
She obtained no finances. She made a living off of cleaning ducks for ppl and they let her take the down and the innerds as payment. She sold the down to a pillow factory to live off the paltry sum of money and she ate the innerds for her meal.
She was emphatically Catholic and defended the Eucharist's importance.
So go ahead TLF...go find the detractors...
Enquiring minds need to know the dirt.
Prayers for souls is bad and should give us lots of red flags.
Sorry, you arent going to find too many piles of dirt on this old woman who i believe has passed away as poor as a Church mouse.
But if you dig - i know you will find something. Maybe the fact that a sister from Medjugorje decided to write a book about her. But anyone from Medjugorje is evil...so yea, i see the red flags.

TLF you said we are not allowed to know who goes to Heaven.
That statement alone contradicts the Catholic Church who canonizes Saints.

WA -
I understand and appricate your need to believe this and have no issues with it really.
I just want the same consideration from you when you think that I'm promilgating something you think may not be strictly Catholic thinking, doctine or thelolgy.
Ok ?
'Cause I'm sort of sick of having my faith demeaned too. |

I don't want your appologies and I don't want your obsequiousness. What I want is not be called pro-abortion because I have a principled stand that doesn't not include making abortion illegal. What I want is some respect for the intellectually and logically based stand I have on contraception and Humane Vitae. What I want is for you to understand that your belief in this book and this women's mysticism is just as contrary (and to the point no more contrary) to any beleif I might have on any issue you might take exception to. When it comes to cafetria, all Catholics are getting something different. but at least it comes with cubed jello at the end..... |

I don't know *anything* about this book, so I'm not really going to take sides here.. I don't know what the Church says about Maria and her messages.. though WA, from how you have described her, she sounds like a devout Catholic who simply served God
I'm very careful about anything to do with contacting the dead, except asking the Saints and Mary for prayer.. because mediums, etc, do that too. So contacting people in purgatory; I'm not really sure about...(this isn't a criticism, just an honest observation..I may be wrong) however, if all that happened is they asked her for prayers and Mass, that seems alright. Indeed, we should pray for those in purgatory.
About the OP... I think it's a useful warning (I'm not talking about the validity of Maria's experiences, but about this particular message), because indeed we live in a society full of immorality and pride, greed, etc.. it's very sad. I think we should pray the Divine Mercy chaplet for the world..
God bless

Anyway, abortion on the other hand...is a definite no no. BC is a no no.
What you do with the 'no - no's' is up to you... but if the Pope says 'Ummmm, NO.' then he as the shepherd on earth has the right to say 'Ummmm, NO.'
And fwiw, when it comes to this 'argument' which is digressing this thread... that has been a Traditional teaching since the start.
So if you want to form your own opinions on a subject already concretely spoke against even by ecf standards...then so be it.
It is not the same as Private Revelation whatsoever. For the Church allows us to believe. Its not a concrete subject as bc and abortion.
Yeah I get it.
Belief in private relation is ok.
Believing the war is just is discernment
Beleiving in capital punishment can be done if you think it will make your society safer
Not supporting goverment programs to help the poor is morally responsible because it is more Christain to help the poor through the Chruch.
Intergration programs and equal pay laws are immoral because the harm the family.
Support a tax structure that prevents the concentration of wealth is Godless Communism
Public school are a double tax on Catholic families that wish to send their children to private schools.
Your divergent views are good and rightious and based on true revelation.
Mine are wrong, deluded and confused and constitute cafetria Catholicism
I am a splitter.
You are just enjoying the wide tapistry that is the Catholic Chruch.
I get it. |

If its not easy... then its genuine.
Anyway Monica, she said she never contacted the dead, they contact her. Her priest told her how to respond to them showing up. That she ask what they want from her.
How she can help them.
Other Mystics of the Church [now canonized Saints] also saw purgatory and souls.
Maria said it is unfortunate that the teachings of purgatory and how to help them has been left on the wayside and few ppl understand why 'ghosts' exist.
She said so many fall into the occult trap because they want answers and then they are misled into contacting the dead deliberately. Which is not the dead, but satan and his minions who use these tools.
The dead will not be contacted that way.
One thing i ponder is that she said how many times ya hear a knocking, you should say that many Masses for the dead. I am going to guess that the average person who hears these things should probably make a list of loved ones and say the Masses for them all so the one who is in need gets the Masses.
That Our Lady visits purgatory daily and comforts them and she knows who needs the Masses. SO if we say a Mass for someone, and they are in Heaven or whatever, Mary will ask that they be used for the souls who are in need.
Fascinating book.
I am not here to promote this, but to discuss how souls are in need. Thinking about from my own perspective, after a funeral is done and over...so few ppl will attend Masses for the dead. [I have been offering them up since i read just a fraction of what this woman said since i read a bit in 1992]
But the warning, i agree, seems very viable. Many ppl in her village believe her because she told them things outsiders wouldnt know...that souls told her. They are only permited to tell her so much.
She was also given warnings from them about near future events, and because God can change His will, they wouldnt be able to give anything detailed or even world wide in warning. Only that the world is at the door.
Whereas when she was younger they said the world was in front of the door.
I dont think wanrings are bad...if nothing else, it could cause the Lord to change His will if we pray.
Just some thots.
I do have this one Eucharistic miracle she spoke about that really fascinated me.
And will need to look for it and then type it all out.
