About tags

Some of you may have noticed the tag system. This is a tool to label threads by topic. It is designed to allow you to find other threads addressing the same topic as tagged by other users. It is not for flaming or making snarky comments. Breaking rules with tags will be treated no different than breaking rules in posts.

While I want to encourage everyone to tag threads and contribute to the system, please think before you tag.

If you have any questions about tags, ask them here.

How are you going to enforce the rules when it comes to the tags since we were told by sojo that you can't tell who placed the tag?

with this version of software, they can see who posts tags. If one has the proper rights, ya just go into edit and hover over the tag and ya know who posted it.

as 'trips said, it took us a bit to figure out how to view taggers. It was tracked by the system since the update though.

Generally, there are two times I've been deleting tags. one is when the tag is inappropriate, the other is when a joke or argumentative tag is spammed over so many threads that it starts interfering with the tag cloud. If a specific thread is filled up with so many joke tags that real tags can't be added (there is a cap) I'll also cull some of them but we haven't run into that yet that I know of.

This doesn't constitute official policy as we have not yet established an official policy. other mods may edit tags differently. if you have questions about specific tags being removed, you can contact me or one of the other mods privately and we can look at the issue.

Also...

If you add a tag to a thread and you see that it is later deleted, it's not a good idea to go adding it again. When we remove a tag we usually just leave it at that, but re-adding them will invite further action.

Based on this and other threads, and additional questions folks have raised about the tag system and how it works, I've put together a thread in DR about tags.

Many people think that the question should be: have you made Jesus your Lord? Have you invited him unreservedly into your heart? Have you completely dedicated every part of yourself and your life to him?

The trouble is that when we are truthful, the answer must always be "No." So let's ask the question a different way.

Has Jesus given everything for you? Has he dedicated his whole life to you? Has he invited you into his heart? And the answer to that is a glorious and gracious and conscious, freeing, comforting YES!

(paraphrased from Pastor Wolfmueller, Table Talk Radio)

What about signatures used for flaming or making snarky comments? Or profile images used for such purposes?

Those profiles should be reported. Last I checked the Report Profile button was awol, so just PM a support team mod and they'll put it through for you.
