And what, pray tell, has that to do with the plain-speaking modern poetry of the Jerusalem Bible (which was translated in the 20th)?

The NIV has an overall excellence of both expression and accuracy that no other version has yet emulated, as its continued enormous sales prove. The KJVO movement did not begin until after its first publication, even though other translations had been made previously, all of them based on source texts other than the TR. The NIV is not perfect by any means, but it is the greatest Biblical challenge to those who prefer the gospel to be extinguished, back in Latin if it has to be published at all.

Who, apart from a bunch of nutters the Roman Catholic church ignores largely, wants the church to go back to Latin?
And what's that got to do with prefering the Jerusalem to the NIV, or vice versa?

Rotherham's Emphasized Bible Robert Young's Literal Translation The Concordant Literal NT The Bible In Modern English The Greek Septuagint The Emphatic Diaglot (Also on the net as a free PDF download) Scarlet's bible Ferrar Fenton's Bible
I myself like Rotherham's except he uses way too many commas in his translation and doesn't use capitilization much.
They have it at this site which I like because it also has the 3 major greek texts to compare with. http://www.olivetree.com/cgi-bin/EnglishBible.htm
(Rotherham) Romans 5:10 For, if being enemies we were reconciled unto God through the death of his Son, much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.
(NKJV) Romans 5:10 For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.
(NASB) Romans 5:10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.

Thieves, adulterers, sodomites. Most people. And what's that got to do with prefering the Jerusalem to the NIV, or vice versa?
Interesting question. |

"Most people" think the Bible is totally irrelevant to their lives. Frankly, they couldn't give a damn if the Bible were written in Serbo-Croat, Akkadian or txt language. Again, what has that to do with one's choice of prefered translation?

Non-Christians have no general preference for or against the NIV, and they are certainly not pro-Latin. |

What is the relevance of this comment? Are non-Christians those who prefer the gospel to be extinguished? |
