I anticipate the answer will be: "well, it's just better for you because it's more natural."

there are certain foods that only "organic markets" can provide.

Yeast free, gluten free breads.
Buffalo, Ostrich meats
Alaskan salmon
Natural peanut butter

If you ask me, there really isn't a noticeable difference between organic bananas, or regular bananas.

When it comes to chicken breast or meat itself, yes. In the Organic markets cows are grassfed. Chickens are not pumped with hormones. Milk from cows are also healthier.

There are certain foods that qualify as better being labeled as "organic". But not all Organic has that advantage.

Oh, DEFINITELY! I'll take buffalo over cow any chance I get. That's absolutely true. As far as meat goes, it's not about "organic" or not... it's about sub-par standards for keeping their livestock... I definitely agree that many meat farms could use some revamping, and I'd LOVE to see more buffalo meat out there replacing cows. Buffalo naturally grow bigger than cows on steroids... it's leaner, tastes better... it's just a better animal.

I'm talking about organic FRUIT. People are sitting here claiming that "organic" apples have 10x more nutrients as non-organic apples. And that's a lie. Less pesticides... yes... but that doesn't increase the nutrition.

I'd love to see safer pesticides out there, no problem with that... I'm just opposing the idea that "organic fruit" is noticeably better than normal fruit. Nothing wrong with organic fruit... but it's not "better" like buffalo meat is better than cow meat that's been pumped with hormones.

It'd be like comparing the meat from a cow that's been left entirely alone vs. a cow that's been given a bath using man-made soap.

Just because it's manufactured doesn't mean the stuff used to wash the OUTSIDE of the cow makes it less nutritious.

God left us a great clue as to what foods help what part of our body!

God's Pharmacy! Amazing!

A sliced Carrot looks like the human eye. The pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye... and YES, science now shows carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the eyes.

A Tomato has four chambers and is red. The heart has four chambers and is red. All of the research shows tomatoes are loaded with lycopine and are indeed pure heart and blood food.

Grapes hang in a cluster that has the shape of the heart. Each grape looks like a blood cell and all of the research today shows grapes are also profound heart and blood vitalizing food.

A Walnut looks like a little brain, a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums. Even the wrinkles or folds on the nut are just like the neo-cortex. We now know walnuts help develop more than three (3) dozen neuron-transmitters for brain function.

Kidney Beans actually heal and help maintain kidney function and yes, they look exactly like the human kidneys.

Celery, Bok Choy, Rhubarb and many more look just like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 23% sodium and these foods are 23% sodium. If you don't have enough sodium in your diet, the body pulls it from the bones, thus making them weak. These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body.

Avocadoes, Eggplant and Pears target the health and function of the womb and cervix of the female - they look just like these organs. Today's research shows that when a woman eats one avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight, and prevents cervical cancers. And how profound is this?
It takes exactly nine (9) months to grow an avocado from blossom to ripened fruit. There are over 14,000 photolytic chemical constituents of nutrition in each one of these foods (mo dern science has only studied and named about 141 of them).

Figs are full of seeds and hang in twos when they grow. Figs increase the mobility of male sperm and increase the numbers of Sperm as well to overcome male sterility.

Sweet Potatoes look like the pancreas and actual ly bal ance the glycemic index of diabetics.

Olives assist the health and function of the ovaries

Oranges, Grapefruits, and other Citrus fruits look just l ike the mammary glands of the female and actually assist the health of the breasts and the movement of lymph in and out of the breasts.

Onions look like the body's cells. Today's research shows onions help clear waste materials from all of the body cells. They even produce tears which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes. A working companion, Garlic, also helps eliminate waste materials and dangerous free radicals from the body.

I find potatoes and bread are excellent fillers to prevent nutrients from fruit and vegetables from exiting the gut too quickly all at once. Without bread and potatoes is like eating soup only. The gut cannot handle the flood of nutrients concentrated too strong in a liquid environment. I think that is why stomach pain happens.

Why can't we just go natural, instead of organic? We should farm and hunt like the good ole days. I figure, if I eat things exactly how God made them (meaning not try to genetically modify my food), then I can't go wrong. Now, back to reality, I wish I could farm. I want to go into my garden and pick out fruits, vegetables, and herbs and then go to a place that sells natural meat and spices and anything else I need and hopefully it would be affordable.

Be careful, however, that the exercise of your freedom does not become a stumbling block to the weak. For if anyone with a weak conscience sees you who have this knowledge eating in an idol's temple, won't he be emboldened to eat what has been sacrificed to idols? So this weak brother, for whom Christ died, is destroyed by your knowledge.

Legalistic or not, Christ said "If you love me, keep My commandments...He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the father's who send Me." John 14:15, 24

Hey I was quite astonished reading all the posts here. How do we know that we really are buying organic food? Is there any way that we can buy organic food in a low cost?

in order to be considered USDA Organic, there are many many strict guidelines. Its also costly. Local farmers might not be able to call themselves certified-Organic because of the cost factors and guidelines--however, in many cases they are organic (and just aren't certified) and as a bonus, they are local. you just have to ask, most will tell you. Local is also your best bet in getting low cost natural food. Farmers markets are pretty slim right now though, it being winter.

Organic food is important for many, but most importantly IMO is the soil the food is grown in. thats where you get the nutrients, from the apple that grew from the nutrients in the soil. which is why so much food today is less nutrient-dense than food from a century ago--we overwork the soil. a grass-fed cow eats the grass that grows in the soil that has those nutrients, which you dont get from eating the meat/drinking milk/eating butter from a cow fed solely on grains (which we get plenty of in our western diet already). Organic food can be grown in overworked soil too, just as other non-organic crops. dairy pastuerization destroys natural nutrients anyway, but thats a different topic.

I cant afford much ceritified organic food, but I try to eat natural anyway and thats half the battle I think. these are the 12 most contaminated food items according to organic.org if you're interested, it might have been posted already:

http://www.organic.org/articles/showarticle/article-214

ceritified organic food is a business like any other food sector in the market. we've had organic food for centuries before it became a marketing tool (for good or bad).... its also the fastest growing business in food production today---I feel more comfortable eating organic food over pesticide-ridden food, but really try to focus on local food and food that just has 1 ingredient in it lol--not a granola bar that has chemicals or presertivies in it, but making my own granola bar with oats, honey, flour, etc. even the Organic granola bars or products aren't as "natural" as you would imagine---look at the ingredients of this one: http://www.cascadianfarm.com/product...il.aspx?cat=21

anyway, sorry for the long post. I really enjoy learning about food and nutrition, Michael Pollen has some good books out on the topic. They are very informative, especially the overview on soil and crop production. I also suggest the book Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon.
