Theological basis for separation of church and state

Well, perhaps humans have power over their creations, aka church (little 'c'), however, I was under the assumption that the Church, the Body of Christ, has but one Head, Christ Himself.

That said, it must be repeated, even Jesus said, "My Kingdom is not of this world, else my disciples would fight." The reference to battle is interesting, as it appears to be beyond the physical kind, eh?

The separation of Church and state is a very important issue. With a theocracy, we simply would not have as many opportunities in this great country.

The problem I see with the separation issue is that by attempting to remain "netural", the govt in reality elevates atheism to the role of official religion!
