"There is one true Church, the really ancient Church into which are enrolled those who are righteous according to God's ordinance.... In essence, in idea, in origin, in preeminence we say that the ancient Catholic Church is the only Church." - Clement of Alexandria, Stromata (Before 215 AD)
"The second commandment of the teaching: You shall not murder. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not seduce boys. You shall not commit fornication. You shall not steal. You shall not practice magic. You shall not use potions. You shall not procure [an] abortion, nor destroy a newborn child" (Didache 2:1–2 [A.D. 70]).

Reason: No longer believe this.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't PaladinGirl the poster who keeps oscillating between being a hardcore Catholic and a fundamentalist Protestant with a very high frequency?

Yes, and also liberal and Mormon. She pops into the fundie forum now and then just to keep us on our toes. You get used to it after a while.

Just saw a forum for "Moderate Christians" - isn't that an insult?
I think what CF means by "Moderate Christians" are Christians who simply strive (as best they can) to stay peaceful in the midst of some of the "iffy" issues sometimes involved in Christianity, most of which are the results of different convictions and/or interpretations of Scriptures. Some examples of such issues include Bible versions, music styles, whether or not women should wear pants or cut their hair, whether or not to eat meat, whether or not to mix politics and Christianity, and the topics are endless. There is also a certain usage of the word which means "lukewarm", but I truly don't think that's what it means, in this sense.
Hope this helps clear things up a little.

I don't understand the basis of this thread...is the OP giving the KJV a "one star" rating or something????

I believe in God the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord,
Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,
Born of the Virgin Mary,
Suffered under Pontius Pilate,
Was crucified, dead, and buried:
He descended into hell;
The third day he rose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven,
And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost;
The holy catholic Church;
The Communion of Saints;
The Forgiveness of sins;
The Resurrection of the body,
And the Life everlasting.
Amen.
