I don't understand the basis of this thread...is the OP giving the KJV a "one star" rating or something????

She changed her post because she no longer holds the opinion she espoused in the OP. It's a really old post. Larry Michael (a Newbie) resurrected it. I tried to engage him in a bit of conversation, but he never responded.

Often times it is the way in which we approach someone that determines their willingness to engage with us .... It is very easy to misunderstand online even if you are as sweet georgia pecan pie ... A
I think what CF means by "Moderate Christians" are Christians who simply strive (as best they can) to stay peaceful in the midst of some of the "iffy" issues sometimes involved in Christianity, most of which are the results of different convictions and/or interpretations of Scriptures. Some examples of such issues include Bible versions, music styles, whether or not women should wear pants or cut their hair, whether or not to eat meat, whether or not to mix politics and Christianity, and the topics are endless. There is also a certain usage of the word which means "lukewarm", but I truly don't think that's what it means, in this sense.
Hope this helps clear things up a little.
I think Matthew Henry would disagree with your conclusion.

i could be mistaken but didn't every word of the kjv have to go through king james himself? i mean i'm sure he was a great guy and all, but no one man's translation can be all that accurate.

No, the translation was "authorized" by King James, not translated by him. This means that he requested it be done, and he gave a few guidelines (that it not have marginal notes like the Geneva Bible had, that it use the same spelling of Bible names that the previous Bishop's Bible had used so they'd be familiar to Anglican readers, etc.). He was a sponsor, of sorts. But the translation itself was done by a committee of 47 scholars.
__________________ Many people think that the question should be: have you made Jesus your Lord? Have you invited him unreservedly into your heart? Have you completely dedicated every part of yourself and your life to him?
The trouble is that when we are truthful, the answer must always be "No." So let's ask the question a different way.
Has Jesus given everything for you? Has he dedicated his whole life to you? Has he invited you into his heart? And the answer to that is a glorious and gracious and conscious, freeing, comforting YES!

Speaking as one of the founding members of the Moderate Forum (and I used to be a pretty frequent guest here too): I think WannaWitness has it right. The idea of the forum was essentially about being polite and respectful, debating without rancor in order to shed light, not heat, on whatever topic was being discussed. Many of us were theological conservatives who tired of the often contentious atmosphere of the Conservative Forum. It was also a place for people who didn't quite fit in the conservative, liberal or fundamentalist forums to have a place of their own. And it was meant as a neutral meeting ground for people from anywhere in CF, hence the name "Bridge Builders". But one thing Bridge Builders was not intended to be was lukewarm; don't confuse a passion for charitable behavior with a lack of passion in one's faith.
