*waves sheepishly* UMMM... Newbie here to TAW Guys...
I have been kind of lurking here for a few weeks and thought I would finally intro myself to my fellow Orthodox brothers and sisters on TAW. I just did a general intro on the general site on the Christian Forum site but expect to spend most of my time here so want to do a more specific intro here. I have been reading the posts and like the discussions I see. It must be the Byzantine in me! I love a good theological discussion (without the rioting mind you).
Quick Bio:
-Family is descended from English mill workers from Sheffield England that settled along the Delaware River and Scottish settlers from Edinburgh that settled in the Mts of N. Carolina then moved north.
-Parents divorced when I was 12, then I was sent away to live with paternal GPs.
-They were Episcopalian, then methodist, then independent Baptist.
-Baptized by immersion at 15.
-Graduated from a VERY Jerry Falwellian High School.
-Rebelled after that and spent the next 15 years with "wine, women, and song" so to speak.
-Through the grace of God and my love of the Roman Empire I actually found the One, True, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church!
-After visiting some Orthodox services and further study Chrismated last 06.Sept.2003 as "James" (after the Brother of Our Lord) and Welcomed into the OCA by Fr. Daniel Geeza of St. Stephen's Orthodox Catholic Cathedral, Phila, PA.
-my pic is the iconstasis at St. Stephen's from this past Palm Sunday when Mp. Herman visited.
