A good point made by Fr. Jacob Meyers of the St. John the Wonderworker Orthodox Church on Keynotes was that Protestant knowledge of and dedication to learning the Scriptures is generally on a higher level than the Romans or the Orthodox.
Their immense faith in Father, Son, and especially Holy Spirit, though not all profess them to be One, they none the less generally recognize all three. Catholics
Their immeasurable contributions to western culture via a high sense of aesthetics in architecture, art, and literature. |

I think we as Orthodox can learn much from non-Orthodox and appreciate what they have contributed.
I'll also add for Protestants: a return to the Vernacular: Luther translated the Bible into the language of his people.
Also, Jan Huss, for trying to return Moravia to it's Orthodox roots. |

I can't thank you enough! You have done far more for me than you could possibly know.

You are a true friend to all of us here at TAW as well. I know that we have not had any personal interaction, but I have observed your candor, honesty and sincere desire for truth. You are one of the things that I like about Protestantism!
I concur that Protestants have a wonderful zeal for exploring the scriptures and am glad for the influence this has had on Orthodoxy due to the large number of converts here in North America.
Our Catholic brothers and sisters have not only left their mark on western art and architecture, but their compassion and action have left their mark on the face of broken humanity as well, to wit the poor of Calcutta and numerous other examples.
His unwirthy servant,
Eusebios.

In giving birth, you preserved your virginity, in falling asleep you did not forsake the world O Theotokos. You were translated to life, O Mother of Life and by your prayers you deliver our souls from death. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. Without this influx of wonderful converts into Orthodoxy, we would not have the Orthodox Study Bible which was spearheaded by former Protestants.
So thank goodness for our Protestant brethren, especially Plan 9!
And thank you to Neal and to Proud2bCatholic, two godly Catholic men, for their wonderful spirit of love, and for the beautiful articles which they share with us.

Reps: 15,124 (power: 27) | | I love Southern Baptists because they stick to their guns, even in the face of polital correctness. They also raised both my priest and my bishop
I love the United Methodist church for its humanitarianism. Being Methodist taught me that this world is part of God's kingdom and that we should take care of eachother while we are here, rather than focusing on the end times and things that don't concern us.
I love "fundies" because they are, for the most part, earnestly searching for the church of the New Testament. They've made a few wrong turns and gotten some bad information, but I see in them a sincere desire to learn the truth and to live the way God wants us to live.
I love Catholics because they have done a much better job than us of checking their ethnic baggage at the door. What I mean is you don't go into a town and see a "German Catholic" church and then two blocks down an "Italian Catholic" one. I also love the phrase "The Church Militant" and I think John Paul II is a great Pope. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | | | |
